i pullled the harmonic balancer off my sbc and noticed it has a rubber ring on the back- never paid enough attention to em before to notice it. it is uneven and cracked- i want to powdercoat the balancer -can this ring be replaced

  2. there is a rubber ring between the inner and outer parts of the harmonic balancer. they can crack and get crappy and cause the two parts to slip. without examining it in person i say you may just be better off buying a new one, or maybe you could post some pictures so we cam see how bad it is

i'm not sure if the rubber part would take the heat of powder coating

Probably best to paint anyway... powder coat cook will smoke the rubber.

SBC's came with their own rubbers..for fucking the fords out on the drag strip..if yours is cracked get a new one so your SBC wont catch something that might kill it..

ok just a little humor to piss off the blue oval guys..im just messing with ya.

you need a new balancer..that ones done, and dont powder coat it..or sugar coat it..i dont

  5. It's shot!! Don't powder coat it either, you'll melt that rubber ring and make it junk also.
