hell yeah. I was in awe about everyone one of his trucks. And if you read his interview the "Rudy Truck" was just a truck he built with extra parts and what not. He wasnt trying to get famous with it. I thought thats what hot rodding was about. I think his cars are fucking sweet.
It's nice to be the first AND the best. Rudy is the only one who can make that claim when it comes to this style build. END OF STORY!! Frank
Yeah, and they handle a few other high priced lines too. http://www.symbolicmotors.com/inventory-rollsroyce.html La Jolla is a big money area.
without an original there can be no tradition. I wonder if the the first guy who ran a t without fenders got this much flack for being different.
I know its not the first truck of its kind if you go through enough little pages you will find a couple but it gets alot more reaction on here than any others. Like it or not.
This is just a suggestion and not directed to anyone specific. How about when people start hating on someone else's work, they post a shot of their BEST work and show everyone how "talented" they are at their best. I believe this will help to understand the opinions and suggestions made by people that are a little more critical. An opinion by someone who actually knows something means a little more than someone who just likes to criticize. High post/reply counts do not always equal talent & low post/reply counts do not always equal new to this game. FYI. I believe it was Paso 2001, this truck drove down the main street and stop everyone in their tracks.
yep when Rudy rolled into paso for its debut it fucked everybody up, i don't care who you are. can't wait to see the Gooch merc all done.
New hard core strict traditional hot rod builds are one step past hard core strict restorations. Just copy the best of what was done back then. Rudy let loose, and built a hot rod truck without copying anything, and without spending a fortune on it. That to me is the true hot rod spirit. It's way harder to build a hot rod that looks good using your own original ideas, than it is to copy some pictures out of a Montgomery book and a bunch of old Hot Rod magazines.
Old thread but I'd have to think that the Rudy truck got more of it's glory because it was the first well known "patina" and rust truck rather than the first chopped and channeled fenderless bobber mid 30's hot rod truck ever built. A local guy had a quite similar truck in the 60's that was a somewhat old build then that had shiny paint and I believe got raced at the Ellensberg drag strip in the early 60's. No doubt the local one wasn't the only one built that way either.
