I have a 1940 Ford Deluxe with a new rebuilt 8ba with a Stromburg 97 Carb and Stromburg Distributor. About a month ago it started runing ruff at high rpms, then it started to run ruff all the time. I checked the distributor nothing obvious, I pulled the plugs they were black so I ***umed it was to rich I rebuilt the carb did not help put on a new carb did not help. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

"Running rough" covers a lot of territory.

First thing is general maintenance items such as the fuel filter as Tim mentioned. Simply meaning, did stuff in the tank clog up the filter when you got the car running and driving. That is common on old rides that have sat for a long time and are getting driven now.
Check the points /dwell if you have a dwell meter.
Check the vacuum advance. That's another item that fails after sitting for a long time. Get it working back and forth and the diaphragam gives out.

Real Stromberg carbs or fake ones from Speedway or Vintage Speed?
