the clutch in my model A has always been a bear to push in. just getting a new motor and muncie 4 speed dialed in, and the clutch is till hard as hell. the clutch i took out was an old 3 finger style and i was sure a new stock clutch/trans would fix it right up. it's got a '62 chevy truck brake/clutch master on the firewall with an ansen style swinging pedal setup, it runs to a '68 international slave. any ideas on whats going on here? i drove it the way it was, and still could, but i'm going to have one leg like a bodybuilder in no time.
While you may have addressed this by getting a stock clutch setup, is the new one a diapraghm style. I had a setup that used a 3 finger pressure plate and 12 inch clutch disc of a 2 ton(or bigger) truck. a diapraghm pressure plate and 11 inch clutch disc setup fixed my problem.
Had the same problem a few months ago. I changed to a diaphragm style pressure plate and problem solved. Sometimes those pressure plates are real tough Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
Chevy MC is 1-1/8 ,correct slave is 1-1/16 . Pedal ratio should be about 6-1 with enough travel to stroke the MC to full stroke. TO fork been shortned ?
Up grade the slave to 1-1/16 it will make a difference! I ran a 10.4 bent fingure diaphram cover with the 1-1/8 MC and matching 1-1/16 slave and about 6-1 ratio pedal and pedal effort was not bad. That cover I used was the performance # that Chevy used for years. My pedal system was made by me to roughly Ansen specs/design.
