Good for you for posting pics. And remeber that the internet gives otherwise "normal" people license to behave like nariccistic and subjective tyrants of style and content. The autonomy of the internet somehow empowers people to be rude..

Keep in mind also that there is, seldom, anything new under the sun. By definition, "traditional" cars are replicas or surviviors of something that has come before...it is the adherence to the specific "traditional" formula that empowers the Style Zealots to abuse you for posting anything remotely unusual.

Which begs the obvious question...is the ill-recieved "101.jpg" car unusual? Or did the Style Zealots simply react without benefit of actually knowing if that car had any "traditional" precedent?

Let's do the math, shall we?

Well said. I know the guy personally. He had a blast running that car down the strip. He only has 75 bucks in the whole car. lol. He and his brother are some pretty smart guys when it comes to building cars.
And thanks to the Ooltewah Speed shop for the pics. See you all there next year.

This shit is hilarious...I can't believe that so many people have such a hard-on for this stuff. God forbid you get that junk out of the garage and actually enjoy it. I really can't get a grip on leaving your car parked to keep it from being called something that "YOU" think it really is. One of the coolest cars owned by a Hamber got called a dunebuggy...? Everybody needs to chill out on this shit and go get your "Rod" out and DRIVE IT!!! Who gives a shit what somebody calls it or what they think about it. Outside of this forum, nobody even knows the difference. They are all "Just old cars" to 99% of the world.

Having a total meltdown over what designation or classification someone gives a car is just stupid. But not nearly as stupid as letting it sit in the garage for fear of it being called a "RAT ROD"

Ratster...you know what those cars are. They are badass, plain and simple. Those were two of the MANY cars last weekend that you can call whatever you want, and they were RATRODS last saturday. Next weekend at a different show you can call them something different if you choose to do so.

I've never seen a car from the 50's that was tig welded have you??

As far as any of this hurting my feelings or keeping me from posting on the HAMB, it won't. I had a good idea that this would stir things up. But I really don't give a shit how they do it in california, or anywhere else. Any time you post pictures on here some dick head can't help but give you some shit about what you posted. These are the same assholes that you see at the shows without their cars.

Oh well...I'm done again. This should get the "Overinflated Traditional Posers" all jacked up.

    Later,
    Kevin

  8. My "ROD" sits in the garage because it's not done. What I meant is, I won't pull it out until all the bare metal is covered up so all my hard work don't rust and look like a pile of shit. Some people might not think it's cool, and that's okay, but they won't be able to call it a pile of shit. You've gotta have a little pride in what you do, Christ.

he found this car in a tool shed in Kocke Country prison tool shed that had closed up in 1965. he dug it out and freshened the SBF so he could run it. the car has never seen a track, it's believed to have been built by Prison Inmates with parts smuggled in to the prison and rumor has it the SBF was stolen from the prison Wardens Fairlane. traditional?? yep!! who new??

Do you posers think you really qualify to fertilize my unproduced seeds of traditional hot rods? Think you can fulfill, as I can, all of my needs? You think you can really put me in my place cause "YOU" think Im slippin? Can you talk to me, wholeheartedly, while not constantly trippin??
Do you qualify to be called the all knowing Traditional Rod Father?
Can you stand up and admit if you made a mistake?
Do you keep in mind as was said "that there is, seldom, anything new under the sun. I thank you for posting and catching my smiling face in action...see guys, I have no doubts, he has reassured me and he understands. I will not let my dune buggy sit in the garage for fear of it being called a "RAT ROD"

Ahhhhhhhhh I love it! Just like the ole HAMB....... like a passing a fuckin car crash that you just can't help yourself but to look to see if there is any blood!

1st off I want to thank Hellbilly for that WILD ride he gave me down the strip. I'd Like to find some video footage taken from the side lines as my fliers went streaming onto the track like confetti on NYE!!

2nd I want to thank those crybabies that decided not to attend because of some stupid immature reason. If you get your jollies by staying home and working in the yard (counting dandelions) or not looking at "shit boxes” Go For It. Everybody was having too much fun to listen to your whining.

    <O:p
Over the last 60 years I have built, raced & shown every kind of car imaginable. The "cars" that drove into the Rumble have always been a favorite of mine because I "Grew Up" with these rides in the 50's.

Any "fat cat" with a rich mommy & daddy or a hand full of credit cards can run down to the "Hot Rod Super Store" & have them build a "Billet Buggy" or a "Checkbook Car," but a true dyed in the wool Hot Rodder will build his own however & with whatever means he can AFFORD. Whether it be a "shit box" ride or a custom, the main objective when it's finished should always be to enjoy it.

    <O:p
I have been filming car shows & drag races thru out a 35 state area for the last 20 plus yrs. Since this Rat Rod Craze came on the scene I have met people who parked their "High Dollar" rides & built a Rat Rod because they've seen not only the attention they get at the shows but all the fun the people are having that drive them.

By criticizing the people, the cars, the event name and whatever else you can think of, you are showing a lack of maturity. I'd like to think that we could all just get along, but in your case I think that a multi-meal pileup has blocked the only road out of town!

    RAT RODS RULE!!!!!

OK I have tried to stay out of this but enough is enough for those that do not like RAT RODS why are you even here looking at this thread???? I am very fond of all types of cars be-it stock all original down to full out race cars and everything in between. I have had my share of shiny cars and had fun with them but I have got to say that my current car is by far one of the funnest cars I have ever had. My old rusty faded Chevy II gets it's share of attention and I do not have to sit and babysit the thing when I park it somewhere scared shitless that someone is going to scratch the paint. Heck if it does get a new scratch it just adds character to it. But back to the topic here I was at the RAT ROD RUMBLE saturday in my RATTY OL' HOT ROD and I had a blast out there on the track and in the pits hanging with everyone else. I got to meet some of the members here and finally put a face to their names. Looking forward to next years RAT ROD RUMBLE For those of you that say rust ain't cool here are just some of the shots of my car from magazines. Evidentally we aren't the only ones that like it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was just trying to prove a point that not everyone has the same exact taste in their hot rods. If we all did then all our cars would look just alike. That is what makes the hot rod hobby so cool that we can build our cars the way we like them and not have to worry about what everyone else thinks. I am sure that if you had a cool car and someone said something bad about it that you would get upset or have a chip on your shoulder toward them. Alot of these people that had their cars at the rumble were just cool car guys out to have a good time and them some of the members here have to come on to this thread and start the thrashing of the others cars. Just because it isn't one persons taste doesn't mean that there are others out there that do not like it. If it isn't someone's cup of tea then they don't have to look at it. Just like the television if you don't like what is on turn the channel or turn it off. You don't have to sit and watch what is on and grumble about it the whole time just find something you enjoy more . Ok I am done with this and want to see more pictures from Saturday. Does anyone else have any?
