Hey kids--I've been getting calls all day-it was posted in the Cruisin Calendar a long time ago and tried to make the correction but it was too late, so we've just been word of mouth-ing it since then. I went on KEYN this morning with the correct info-see you all SATURDAY SATURDAY SATURDAY! Registration is just south of the clocktower on Sycamore.

I have a rather dumb question. Mike wanted to know if there was an entrace to the area. I suggested just crusin in on Sycamore, but Mike told me to ask, so........

    See ya there!!!!

Well of COURSE it is!!! Anyone who knows Wichita History knows that this area was once upon an island and that island was sin city all over the place, allowing all kinds of illegal activity, Mobster town, but today it is just a cool place to go. Too bad they tore down the rollercoaster!!! LOL

If you are coming from McPherson you want to come down the 135 not the I35 which is the turnpike.
Coming south on the 135 as a spectator I would exit to west bound Kellogg which is also the 400 west. About a mile down the road start looking for the Seneca St. exit, you'll want to get off there. Turn right (north bound) on to Seneca St. and go to the second intersection stop light (ignore the crosswalk stop light). That intersection will be with Douglas, turn right (east bound) and get as close as you can to the action to park because the cars will be lined up for quite a ways if this is anything like last year. Wear your walking shoes. Most of all, enjoy the show.

A word to the wise about all the construction going on here. 400 (Kellogg) and 135 from Interstate 35 all the way to 400 is under construction, traffic is limited to one to two lanes, and even totally closed from time to time, it is a royal mess!!! All of the ramps are closed so you can not get onto 400 (Kellogg) off 135. Kellogg from Hillside west to Meridian is also under construction, so a lot of the exits you need to take are closed as well, so if you are not familiar with Wichita, you can get lost real fast!!!! The fastest and easiest way to get to the Delano District is to follow these directions.

Take Interstate 35 to the 47th Street Exit. Just north of the toll booth, you will see the highway fork, 135, and 235. Take Westbound 235 to Seneca (the 2nd Exit North of the Fork. Go north on Seneca to Maple, (six stop lights) which is the first stop light north of the Seneca/Kellogg (400) Exchange. Turn Right on Maple, head east to the first stop light, which is Sycamore. (about six blocks or so) Turn left on Sycamore (north), just a couple of blocks north is the Registration area for the show.

It is best to avoid west bound Kellogg because a lot of the exits are closed. The Broadway Exit is open (or at least it was yesterday), you can Exit at Broadway, I think it is called the midtown exit, the 2nd stop light after you exit is Broadway, turn right (north) take that to Waterman (I believe it is the first stop light you come to on Broadway). Turn left on Waterman, (west) follow it around to Mc Lean Blvd (during all those curves, Waterman turns into Maple). You can turn right on Mc Lean, and go to Douglas, which is the first stop light north on Mc Lean, or you can keep going west on Maple to the next stop light which is Sycamore (passing Lawrence-Dumont Stadium), turn right (north) registration area is just a couple of blocks north.

    Hope this helps everyone.

I am pretty sure you can still get on west bound Kellog off 135, coming from the north, but DO NOT try the Seneca street EXIT, it is CLOSED!!!! To my knowledge the only exit open is Mid Town, or the Broadway Exit, Meridian was closed yesterday, but I think It was open today, the entrace ramp on Main, all the way to Seneca is definately closed though. I Posted a way to get down town earlier this evening, you may want to take a look

Just wanted to remind everyone this is a Pre-65 show! No one with a car newer than a 1965 will not be admitted--Have had tons of phone calls today asking. Hope to see everyone tomorrow!

I'll be there with my '31 A coupe. Heard that last year's show was pretty cool, so I thought I'd check it out tonight.

We enjoyed the show last night! Very cool music, people, and cars. I like the '64 and older restriction. There weren't many newer ones that slipped through. This was the first time I'd shown my '31 A. Had a good time answering questions about it. It's a very plain looking car but I enjoyed the attention it got! The Lake Afton show is in 2 weeks. See you there.

I am glad everyone had a good time. Unfortunately, we had to leave because our entry was not accepted (my only complaint is I would have greatly appreciated someone returning our entry check and letting us know, I wrote on our check that it was a 1966). For the record one of the merchant's (who shall remain annoymous) in the area had told us that a 66 would surely be overlooked (he DID mention that entering it as a 65 would be advisable). It was an unfortunate oversight and I just wanted those responsible to know we hold no grudges, rules are rules. We did not try to hide the fact that our car was a year too new. The differences between a 65 and 66 Catalina are minimal, it really takes someone who is into the car to know. It meant that we would have to lie to get in, we felt it imperitive to be honest. We did get a refund, so that was appreciated. Thanks to all for that. This is a TOP RATED show, that is something Mike and I want everyone to know. We were a little embarrased, but after all is said and done, the people who put this on have our applause.
