You got that right! Now that I've gotten my traditional visit for Labor Day Weekend to Atlanta Motor Speedway over with a most of my junk from that put away, it's time to get back on BGII.
    Plans are:
#1- Mount up those slicks on the Amer. Racing Daisy wheels I have already cleaned up
#2- install roll control for no more rolling out of lights
#3-Check all suspension and steering components to be sure all is OK and tight
#4- check out engine:timing, adjust valve lash, etc. and bump rev limiter up a bit

Sounds like a plan Dave  I've got a punch list too, my fuel pressure regulator just told me it needed a new diaphragm  It's easy enough and about $7 @ Summit  But I need to change the 710 and a few other things too.

Bad A sounds like we're gonna have a mighty fine day of racing  That truck good for hot lapping? Sounds like you are going to need to be at the staging lanes all day

Yep. I ran 5 different cl***es, at Paradise Dragway a couple of years back. And I would run one cl***, then drive straight back to get in line for the next cl***. I made about 20 back to back p***es. But like I said, it is a street truck. And a stock motor. SO no worries.:):):)

"Cl***es???????? We don't need no stinking cl***es"!! Nobody in the hot rods gives much of a rats *** who or what they are up against, all just having a great time! Fun to be able to nail your hot rod without looking over your shoulder or in the mirror, watching out for John Law! I'm not installing slicks to beat somebody. It's just that BGII is so damn squirrely off the line with my 8.20X15 BF Goodrich WWW Cokers that I dang near hit the Xmas tree @ Paradise!!!
But there are times when you have someone you want to try on for size, and the staging lanes @ Silver Dollar are big enough to get lined up with whoever you want to choose. You just sorta lurk until they show up in line or either arrange it ahead of time.

As of now, I plan on making it to the event. If I don't get one of my cars ready, I will bring an old camper to crash in. Looking forward to it!

As I've already said, I want my first run to be solo so's I can be sure all is well with BGII and the slicks, as I've never ever driven on asphalt with slicks, grooved slicks on dirt trracks, yes, but not slicks on a drag strip. After that, I'll line up with just about anybody if I feel BGII is gonna behave herself. And I don't really care whether I win or lose, it's all fun!
BTW, Bad A, LS engines seem to come in a broad range of cid and other things like heads and cams, what's yours based on? cid?
Bobby, who and what is starting to scare you? The hoop is right where I laid it in the floor when I took it off the truck, and by this weekend I should at least have a chance to roll under BGII with it to see how it will work out, been busy getting stuff ready and then spending a long Labor Day weekend @ AMS.
Since I have triangulated ladder bars on rear, it may take a bit of finageling!
Curtis, glad to hear you're planning on coming our way and hope you get a car ready. The more the merrier!
Appears my son and DIL may be therealso. He's supposed to close the deal tomorrow on a real nice '68 Mustang GT fastback with a built 351 Windsor, C4, and 4.11:1 gears and wants to come and play. Their plan is to crash in my pop up like we did last weekend @ AMS. This is shping up to be the biggest and best yet for RWYB @ Silver Dollar.

As Stated before. My motor is factory stock, except for the stainless headers, my buddy Mike & I built. And a tune by Scott @ Intune. I even have the stock air box on it. I love to trash talk. What happened guys. Lets not get serious, Let the BS continue.:):):):D:D:D:D

What I'm asking is maybe the wrong question, because I thought that LS engines come in several states of FACTORY, OEM setups of heads cams, and cubic inches. But I really know very little about them. Is this engine one of the high performance, big inch engines like the HiPo Camaros and Vettes use or a 6.2 out of a pickup truck? Are both of these examples "LS based"?
Maybe I don't really understand what an LS engine is.Doesn't really matteer on a personal basis as far as the RWYB goes as I'm sure you'll outrun me, just a very curious nature about these new generation engines.I'm very much in the same opinion as you about "traditional, BTW. I'm almost 77 and lived, breathed and got greasy on hot rods back in the day these youngsters are trying to relive.
And we used the best and latest driveline stuff we could find and afford back then. I don't remember anybody trying to build a banger because it was traditional, rather than a nearly new Olds ohv V8 unless they had the banger and no money to buy or build another later and more powerful engine.
When I bought BGII's beginnings, it was already mocked up for an sbc, with new flywheel, clutch, pressure plate and safety bell housing all from Mcleod, and I had a good buildable "010" sbc engine, so that's what I used.
However, if there hadn't been an engine setup so far along already there, I most liklely would have done what I consider "traditional" and used what I had on hand, plus it also would have been "a Ford engine in a Ford."
And what I had and would have used one of was a pair of 4.6L, DOHC, 32 valve Lincoln MKviii engines in parts cars I had (and still have) to support the '94 MKviii that was at that time my DD.
So you and I think a lot alike about "tradition", I just don't know much at all about LS engines...
P.S. Bobby, you still ain't told us who and what scares you.

I'll run ya Bad A... I'll probably be like... "Whelp there he goes." :D Still grinning of course ;):D

No wonder it's such a bad ***! Thx for the info. I really sorta wanted to use one of those 4.6L DOHC/32valve Lincolns I have, but it just didn't make sense with all the sbc stuff I had. My MKviii has turned high 14s @about the century mark in a car that outweighs BGII by about 1800#, with a 3.08 rear gear and open differential. Idles @ 600 rpm, factory redline @ 6000rpm 25-26 mpg on Interstate @ 80-85mph.
Say what you want about "traditional", there is a lot to be said for the new technology. That is till something goes wrong and you don't know whether to **** or go blind, LOL!!!!!!!

Like Josh, I've always gone home stinky. But I am gonna call Ed and get the name and number of the outfit that brings in the portable toilet for the track up the way by return road and see if I can get us one for our use put down by our customary camp area by the shade trees. BTW, there's one less tree down there, as one died this year. Ed figgers it was the drought that did it, but I'm wondering if too many folks have pissed on it .

We are getting amped up, and ready to race. The new tires are, mounted on the wheels. And just setting in the garage, waiting to get put on. WIN, Lose, or DRAW. we are going to have a great time. Alright Speedy, it's good to get acquainted. My name is Scot, the better half is Kim and the '35 Dodge is the "Haynesville Hoodlum"

And a friendly reminder to those in the unknown... Speed traps are rampant so if you are coming from the North, pay careful attention to your speed in Henry County, Monroe County and Peach County as well as in Reynolds itself. If you are coming up from the South, pay careful attention to your speed in Tift County, Crisp County and going through Reynolds. These are well known speed traps and if anyone knows of any more let us know.

I hope Jimmy will do our shirts again this year. Has anyone heard from him?

Doubt BGII will be anywhere near enough Speedy, but like you , I'll be there to have fun, and do some winning and some losing. Prolly get to even run against my son, Frank, as he just bought a '68 Mustang GT Fastback that is damn nice except for a few paint flaws where it seems the modern paints are, over time, incompatible with the lead joints in older cars. It has a built 351 Windsor, nowhere near the power of your LS, but prolly somewhere near what my sbc has, just a little less cam. Bet they don't see too many Father/Son races down there!
Where is your motel room? There's a place called the Ft. Wayne Restaurant & Motel there in Reynolds, prolly less than a mile from the track. Never seen the rooms but if the rooms are as nice as the restaurant food is tasty, they'll be damn nice. They also have a gas station and convenience storeconnected..upposed to mount my slicks today if all goes well.
Scot, I haven't heard from Jimmy in awhile, thx for the reminder, as I've been intending to call him about T-shirts and the big grill. And next week, after Ed is thru the weekend's busy racing event(s), I'm gonna call him to make sure all is
ok on his end and also find out who to call about a Jiffy Johnny in our siute.
