My buddy is running a 301 (?) pontiac in his T sedan and is beginning the process of locating his steering box. He is getting frustrated. The 'starta' is on the drivers side and is going to be in the way due to the T being somewhat skinnier than the A's he has been working on. Any ideas, pics, suggestions.
So-Cheap, it might help to go and look closely at the set up on Dan's T pheaton. He's running a 400 Poncho in that machine. P.S. Who's heap is that?
well, i'm not quite there yet, but i'll be running a 389 in my A. i'll be checking on this thread. i can't remember who it is on the hamb, but someones running a *****ing poncho motor in their A.
I am running a 389 in my A with cross steer so I probably can't help as far as steering box location, however the pontiac is wide and the oil filter rubbed on the right frame rail. I ended up using a remote filter set up. If you raise the engine up you might be ok with the side steering setup, however then you are dealing with a hump running thru the car. Also another thought is header or exhaust manifold clearance.
Just remembered i had this pic of UK HAMBER Gasty's '32 with a 400, the steering box is a Land Rover i think!
you need to talk to FlamedAbone, he only uses Pontiac's and has used some offbeat steering, I think his Henry J is using either a Mitshubishi or Toyota PU box...
