"And now for something completely different."
We all have seen the "Sitting and Rotting" thread. How about a thread dedicated to the cars that run, but for whatever reason lack paint, bodywork, reconditioning etc.

Here's a start from Sunnyvale CA:

Good idea for a thread. The stuff we think of at 4am!^ Is the ''A'' a driver?
Request here for real patina only!

  5. 20160113_142357_001.jpg I found my 29 in the woods of a farm in 1979. I gave the farmer $100 for her. I had very little money to put in to a HOT ROD. I got it running and driving first. Then I started having FUN, I did the body and paint work later. This thread may get interesting. I'm not a fan on making a car look bad on purpose. That's just me. Ron...

Oh man, I've ben waiting for this thread. I got into cars to drive them, not to polish them. The shiniest car I've ever had was the one I restored when I was 15 and didn't have a license to drive. Since then, life moves too fast. I still hate rust, but the dents and abrasions acquired through use are proof that I am successfully incorporating my material obsession into a very full life.

Well, the "A" was a driver last summer. Used to see it all over in Sunnyvale but haven't seen it recently.

  13. I hope that A doesn't fall into the hands of a restorer. It takes the "Please, Sir, don't restore that car" trophy.

This should be a great thread. Will photos be limited to current cars or old ones from the past as well? Bob

To me these are the real hot rods and cool cruisers not those cookie cutter I bought this from a guy because I can't build one. Or I got all these goodies from a catalog .

  16. This will be a good thread, cars that are used and enjoyed, not built like book the tells them they should be.

Well, I'll be. A Rat Rod thread on the HAMB. This, hopefully, won't last long.

Yeah, these are "rat rods". Bet the owners would love to hear that in person.

Hard to believe. A '48 built hot rod with independent front suspension gets tossed for not being "traditional" but a rat rod thread is OK? Oh well.

I love the patina on this truck, which I inherited when my buddy died. It looked like this the whole time I knew him, and I'm not gonna change much.

Yeah, this thread sure is walking a tight-rope. I threw my truck up here since I think it fits within that very narrow band, where 'patina' can exist, and has existed, here on the HAMB. I think that the defining trait of a r*t r*d is whether or not that 'patina' was deliberate or not. I can ***ure you, the wear on my truck was anything but deliberate...
