Hello, I have a 52 Crestline Victoria with the 239 flathead and it has the Fordomatic behind it. I have run dual 94's on a manual trans car with no issues but was wondering if there may be an issue with the auto trans. I am currently running a Mallory dual point/mechanical advance with one Holley/Ford 94 on the Crestline. The car is completely stock. Thanks for any information Clay
I don't see any reason the dual carbs would cause any problem with a Ford-O-Matic. The only potential problem would be to get the transmission linkage working correctly. It controls shift points and transmission operating pressure. The transmission uses the throttle linkage to determine engine load. The higher the load, the later the shifts and the higher the operating pressure.
The transmission doesn’t know… what would an extra carb add? 10 hp at 4000 rpm. I ran dual quads on my stock 56 YBlock 292 with a Ford-O for 4 years before upgrading the transmission.
If those use the typical bell crank on the engine that control the kick down you’ll want to maintain that. May be some adjustments required depending on how it mounts to the new manifold. If they’re like the later (y block) versions, dig the manual out and go thru the adjustment procedure . There’s a spring and a sliding joint, and a set of holes to put a rod (or screwdriver, whatever) thru. Too many years for me to remember details.
