  1. hey all,

just wondering if anyone has run light truck bias plays on their rod... something similar to:

They are alot cheeper then the normal re-pop blackwalls which are even more expensive then WWW here in Oz. Want to know if the handling would be ok. Some are 8 ply instead of 4 so maybe stiffer?

ive got them on my lil black truck,i only drove it a couple times before tearing it apart again.
from what i can tell they seemed fine, but then again i never got over 50mph. they didnt do very smokey burnouts either.i guess cause of the hard compound [IMG]

id like to know others opionions...

  4. If my memory is correct I think we (as in you and I,,,) have talked about this previously, regardless, this is my perspective....

I'm running on my r/p/u (as is my frined's tourer) a pair of 7.00 R15 Toyo 8 ply units (on 5" wide R15 rims). The get the desired 'look', ride OK, and steer straight. Both my friend and I run 165R15 fronts(on 4 1/2" R15 rims).
From experience, they're our 'preffered', budget choice.

Having said that, you might have difficulty if you walk in to your local tyre shop and try to find any other options, as it's a rare size.
A more 'common' option is a 7.50 R16, far more options.
New, the above mentioned rear tyres cost about $200 each.

Both my friend and I bought ours second hand for about $50 each from 'truck' wreckers with plenty of remaining tread.

Again, like anything, they're out there, just gotta keep looking. I'f ya want a close up etc, email me.

    Cheers,

  7. Hey Drewfus,

We've spoken about this before, but in the past i was toying with the idea of radial light truck tyres, not bias plys.

Are yours true bias plys? They certainly have a good look to them. Are the front bias as well?

I can get retreads for about 80 each, but might try the wreckers. Is the handling ok wiht those?
