Saw a 32 rusted to hell, thought it was a steel car but, was a fibergl*** body. Really was a work of art. Anyone know how to get this effect??? I would be interested in trying it on by 32 body.

Why would you do that? Maybe try searching "fake patina"

I can't imagine this thread going anywhere good....

street rodder had a gl*** 37 ford that a guy did that with a few years back. the article had good up close pictures and a little explanation. I will see if I can find it. I'm sure this post is going to stir up a hornet's nest.

    So lame.

As a painter I can't understand why you would want to leave your car in real 'patina' let alone fake it!

How can I make my steel car look like fibergl***?

  6. I prefer NO rust myself...I spent a lotta time gettin' rid of it. Makes no sense to bring it back!
But then I've got a real Henry's steel body too. Just my 2 cents on this one.

Put 3 spoke billet wheels on it and wear a Hawaiian shirt.

Okay here goesreal rust is a bad thing. It eats away at steel cars and if left untreated destroys them. Why on earth would you want to spend time and effort making a fake version of something which is basically the enemy.
I really am just not getting it. I hope you have a thick skin my friend.

I think I came up with the newest idea of fake patina. I'm going to call it the fake chickenwire, newspaper and smothered in Bondo look. It's got to be cooler than shiny paint.

    Hey Barry,

This may sound kinda ''kooky'', but you may wanna check out some of the craft and plastic modeling sites, also the architecural/decor sites. "Faux'' paint has been done for ages in the decoration and art business and there are some great products out, now to produce all kinds of results/effects.
When ya get down to it, paint is paint, whether it's on a Gulfstream G750, a gl***fibre '32 or the interior of a ten million dollar home. Those that don't "get'' it are probably driving "Guards Red'' painted Chevrolets!
