Terrible rust on my 2007 Chevy Colorado. When I replace this fuel pump and locking ring, what is an effective way to prevent or minimize future rust ? I am thinking liberal application of wheel bearing grease, anti-seize, beeswax, silicone caulk, or something else ?. Recommendations requested

Rust is formed with the oxygen in air and moisture. Anything that prevents air and moisture from coming in contact will do. All the things listed will work, some will survive longer than others, some will be more difficult to deal with the next time. Pick your poison.

Use one if the wax/oil based chassis treatments. Keeps the moisture out and is very persistent.
