Another tip I've found out is taking milk crates and cutting them apart so you have 5 squares of plastic. Use them to keep parts separate from the anode. That way you can just set the sacraficial metal in the bottom lay down a couple of pieces of the milk crate "grills" and set the part on top of that.

Molasses works, my son and I have good luck with 1/4 molasses/water. Google it, its popular on other threads. I get it at local feed store, here its $3 gallon as feed supplement, grocery store is way too $$. Nothing the EPA can stab you for using it either.
