I bought some Vintage Aluminum brake drums that I want to put on my Roadster.
They are like Buick drums, but bigger.( and more rare )
When I got them I found out that the brakeshoes had rusted to the steel liner of the drums.
I did not want to damage any of the parts, cause I dont know if I could find replacements.
I got them loose by putting the whole****embly ( complete with upright, A arms, etc.) in a tile of water for a week.
That softened up the rust enough so I could disassemble them with out having to hammer on them.
I thought of this thanks to a post here on the HAMB about getting the pistons out of a engine that was rusted solid...

Really? Water instead of some kind of solvent and it works?

    Yeah, aint that cool?
No damage to any of the parts, and easyer to get rid of than 10 gallons of solvent...
