Not to add fuel to the rustoleum paint debate, but, I see they now offer a line of acrylic lacquer, 9 colors, and acrylic lacquer clear. Anyone used this? http://www.rustoleum.com/product-catalog/consumer-brands/auto/premixed-diy-bulk-paint Not really an alternative to recoat existing rustoleum enamel jobs, lacquer over enamel is risky. But it opens the door for low cost flake and pearl jobs.
This looks good for a cheap enamel job http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000CPL4BM/ref=s9_hps_bw_g263_i3
Just like Duplicolor. I would NOT trust any pre-mixed lacquer. Dry times (vs temperature) are WAY too dependent on they type of thinner you use. If you can't control it, you are going to have problems, unless you shoot it uner the right conditions.
Good to know on premixed lacquer, I've never shot lacquer. Shot a lot of rustoleum enamel over the years, but not on car exteriors.
I used premixed duplicolor lacquer. You can still add thinner, which it needed. Didnt come out perfect but I was happy for the money.
I shot the inside floor pan of my '59 with a quart of Duplicolor white lacquer a couple of weeks ago. Right out of the can with a HVLP cheapo spray gun from HF. It laid down perfectly and was only about $25 at Auto Zone. I would buy it again. I really prefer to shoot lacquer than enamel and people think that lacquer is hard to use.
I just sprayed a Vespa with silver metallic Duplicolor lacquer with a $10 HF HVLP gun. It actually came out really good. I've never sprayed rustoleum lacquer before though.
I don't know anything about this company but been painting through most phases from lacquer through alkyd enamel, acrylic enamel, polyurethane and now water based(CRAP). My favorite is acrylic enamel and I am glad many companies are starting to come out with it again.
