Reworked the bottom of the fender to line it up with the bottom of the rocker, I also reworked the rocker on the bottom of the A pillar, reshaped it a bit .

I also re-welded some of the patch work I did when I first got the car...at that time it was supposed to be a year round 4 door beater lol.

Last night I felt like doing something fairly low on the scale of mental thought ...so I took a 3M strip wheel and the DA to the drivers door to get as much of the rust and paint off as possible then gave it a good scrub with some phosphoric acid. Now when I blast it it should only take a few light passes to get the skin cleaned up.

Thats what I keep telling myself anyways! I have about an hours worth of welding on each door to fix the inside front bottoms I will pull the doors off this week to do that. Next up is getting the front clip mounted to the frame ,finish trimming the inner fenders ,mount the front bumper , and fill in the old parking light holes. Then I can take the clip apart to blast so I can weld the fender halves together...shit thats still alot of work eh!

Ya but you have a plan!! To tell you the truth I never think the welding is done untill it is on the road. There always some little think that needs to be welded. I thinking of doing up a welding list for the merc. Lists always help me get stuff done.

Where did you find phosphoric acid ? I can find this only diluted in concrete cleaner , or pure and expensive in a chemical plant ...
Other option : crossing the border to go in a US Home Depot .

There are a few dealers for eastwood stuff in Canada ,I got a gas tank sealer kit from a guy in New Brunswick last fall I should have his contact info around someplace. The evapo rust works good but you seem to have to submerge the part completely or rig up some kind of a shower for it...

Where is it? Upside-down, one side laying on floor pan, other side vertical hanging down at body channel point? Painted white? (Is my drink too stiff tonight . . . am I Blogging While Blind?)

Awesome progress, Steve. Your back must be killing you.

See it now. Had your tubing (for straight-edge) in my mind when I first saw the pic. What the hell, think how much longer it'll last now before it rusts through again!

Got a little time this weekend got the paint/surface rust stripped off the pass door to ready it for sandblasting.....

And started the pass fender , I want to eliminate the parking lights I will just hide something small in the grille area..

This fender was alot worse than it looked like it had been hit fairly hard between the head light and the park light and needed a good beating and some hammer and dolly work before it could be welded up..
