  1. I'm a sucker for the old Dodges I've had three of them. Nice score on the new project! I don't know how you keep finding all this old stuff.

Thats a real score! The wagon bumper especially..I have been kinda lookin for a 55 or 56 front bumper for my 51 too.

I just finished fixing the front of the roof over the windshield...what a mess  I am kinda surprised by how much stuff there is in NS I never expected to find anything when I moved here !

    Thanks!!

I have read through this entire thread twice! I recently acuired a 47 long door myself. This thread has been a big inspiration for me. I hope you don't mind if I steel some ideas from your build and use them on mine. I can't wait to see your finished product.

Feel free to steal whatever you want, hell send me a pm if you have any other queastions ... I have learned alot from other's build threads and love it if someone can get anything from my frankenstein :D I am doin a few things on the 51 Chevy now so I can clean it up to sell it ( of coarse I wont want to when its lookin good!). I started out with a quick skuff and re-spray ...needless to say I kinda got carried away  musta removed a gallon of mud from the bottom of the drivers side front fender alone

Well Steve here's a photoshop of your 46 Ford shop truck, sorta. Found this truck on the 'net among others but I had to do it in the true Koolkemp fashion, i.e. the hard way.

    [IMG][IMG]

Its a bit rough still but after all it is a shop truck eh? Chopped and lowered it a bit, but not too much since you'll need to carry all those loads of welding wire. :D

Btw, hows the '47 coming along?

Awesome truck too... love old ford pickups

  10. good job saving it.keep going.

  11. More work on the fat lady. Or are we to assume the next time we see her, she may have a pick-up body?

The truck frame shares the car of the same year does it not. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Damn Eli dont distract me anymore than I am ;) If he hasnt gone back to work maybe Flatheadfever and I will go get the truck this weekend if we have time, he's gonna stash it at his place for me till I get the yard cleaned up and organized a bit better lol. It prolly wont get a flatty cause Flatheadfever wants it, and I want to be able to pull my car trailer with it...if I could find a reasonable deal I am tossing around the idea of a roller 302 & 5 spd...it would be fun ! I have enough passenger car sheetmetal to redo the front clip , the truck fenders are pretty rough so thats probably how it will go. The fat lady is stayin in one peice well untill I can separate the body and frame to finish up the underside and paint it and the frame. Biggest issue is I dont have enough spare cash for epoxy primer and a dozen bags of sand.Just had to pay the insurance on the 64 & 51 ...I could go on & on about cash flow but I think you guys get the picture! Got the ol cummins just about ready for its inspection, no cash for insurance and plates lol....actually its kinda sad ! Should have the 51 for sale soon even though the wife has threatened to kill me if I sell it. I have the opposite problem to most guys, she gets pissed when I sell stuff not when I buy it :p

Just explain that you're going for the loftier goal of getting the '47 on the road and must finance it. Once the car changes from garage ornament to a driver I imagine the wife will forgive you for selling the '51. One can never know with the fairer sex though, we just gotta hope for the best.:D
Btw I dig the idea of the roller 5.0 & 5 speed for the pickup. That'd be one fun driving little parts chaser! I can see you hammering it down the road with "Highway to Hell" jammin on the stereo. LOL

I did score a nice s10 4X4 rearend that doesnt even need backing plates for free, thats a bit of progress right ?!! I might have the 51 sold....I will give him a bit of time to scrape up the money,if not I will advertise it shortly.I have enough other stuff out of the way so I am gonna jump back on this, if the 51 leaves I WILL be driving this next summer! Just gotta fit up the rad then I can start taking it apart to finish the frame/floor biggest hold up right now is no cash for supplies !

Woo Hoo! Progress! (okay, sorta, lol) I don't remember if you mentioned it Steve, but what are your plans for the drivetrain? I'd go back and look to see if you mentioned but this thread is a bajillion pages long and I'm too damn lazy to look. lol

Nothing exciting, just a 305 from a lemans g body that Flatheadfever was kind enough to provide to the cause . Long term I would love to put a vintage motor in it, nailhead, rocket, etc just to confuse people more than they will be already!

Well, the sbc is a pretty reliable engine (and about as exciting as a bowl of mashed potatoes), I agree with you that a Ford flatty V8, nailhead, rocket or old Caddy mill would really crank up the cool factor! Did your '46 pickup have a motor in it?
Any more body work progress or are you waiting for it to get freezing cold?:D

Thanks Ricky! The same thing as last summer seems to be happening...all the other chores both household and vehicle seem to be eating away what little spare time I do have!I just have to make the time to get some stuff done on the ol girl. I have to get some blasting and priming done before winter...as soon as I get the rest of the cash and the 51 Chev is gone the fire will be re ignited regardless ! The cash to get some parts and supplies will certainly be a motivator!!

  23. Is the 51 sold Steve ? We will see some progress shortly perhaps ???

After a couple years of following this build it seems like you only work on the '47 when its cold as hell Steve! Lol! Is the cold a motivator?

Ya I got a deposit on it from a friend whos only 23 ....lured him away from the import scene and got him into cool stuff :D he has some other vehicles for sale so hopefully he will be over with the rest of the dough soon....so I can pay some bills but more importantly get some supplies for this thing...I can easily spend $500 on just primer and some sand for the blaster and a few other little things!

I know its kinda sad eh, but I despise winter and have no winter based hobbies except garage time..its good in a way cause you can get alot done. I have alot I want to do while its still warm out so I have to get on it soon!

You despise winter? Me too. That's why I live where we really don't have winter. I remember in '74 some white stuff fell from the sky. I called 911. They said it was snow and not to worry.
