It’s back home and ready for me to get a trunk latch and rubber bumper brackets built. After that I’ll start blowing the suspension apart and getting it ready to powder coat. I’ve been busy doing things that take forever and it doesn’t look like you’ve done nothing. The fuel lines are all bent and installed.
I cut the hump out of the seat back and made it flat to gain a bit more leg room. 6A264B38-7EB7-4D99-82DC-DF22041F1331.jpeg 3C9E9503-1FD6-4DF6-BDA7-31A3E805C069.jpeg I’ve started building the wood perimeter for the interior to tack to. F7DD0CA6-29A4-429C-8049-7E556042CC56.jpeg And I built a trunk latch from an interior door backset. I milled a piece of square stock and welded an arm on it for the cable to pull on. BB127F28-48E3-4766-A202-2EC6E04CE316.jpeg I milled a piece of angle iron for the catch. 7131E7A4-BDC5-4665-8E34-AD5C898A3F46.jpeg Years ago I bought two door poppers for cheap so I’m using these as the trunk stops and they pop the decklid open when the cable is pulled. 8F0E69A8-39D2-4A6F-8548-20BD3B6A22CA.jpeg I was parting out 2007 Chevy pick up so I took the hood release Handle and cable to pull the backset down. Lots of little things done that take time but doesn’t show it. 9FF2D2A7-AACC-46C8-AAEB-CFBCB28A8C0B.jpeg

Yeah goldmountains latch got me thinking. I’m a carpenter by trade and guess what. I have doorknobs laying around! I just went about it a bit different. Power of the HAMB!!!

Looking good! Those rubber bumpers for the trunk lid should work well to keep it from rattling.
I think people were smaller a hundred years ago so gaining every bit of extra space will definitely
make your super cool roadster more comfortable to drive.
Good detailing does take time but is worth the extra effort.
I would recommend test driving it before you tear it down for paint to find any problems that might need fixing.

I have a bad habit of getting things running and never finishing them. I would really like to tear it down and start powder coating and painting.

Tack strip is oh so close just a few more small pieces to add, sand, finish and cover it up with interior, never to be seen again. I bet I have 20 plus hours in building this damn thing. AE46F2AB-5867-4654-9196-1DE5AC6E08D8.jpeg

Your very welcome, it was an honor. Hope we can cruise a bit more this summer. We definitely didn’t get enough in last year.

It’s all pieced together stogy. Lots of glued up little pieces. Just waiting on a few coats of spar varnish and it will be done. Check one more thing off the list. BAFF9813-70F7-4195-ABA0-417E0DCA6006.jpeg

Wonder what it will look like after your upholster attaches all the tacks, staples and top snaps.

Probably no worse than the pieces you buy from a catalogue that don’t fit for shit. The upholsterer I am using is a personal friend and I trust he will do a good job. It’s screwed from the inside every 3” so If it cracks it can’t move and it will be covered. Oh and it will not have a top so we don’t have to worry about snaps.

Yeah, a '30 model A sedan. Not much of a project yet, I'm in the parts collecting phase right now. Got a sick set of fenders for it the other week.
I have a fearured thread on it but I haven't been very active on it lately.

So I’ve been studying the front of the car and it seems to be missing something. To me it just seems to be lacking something so I’ve built a pair of frame horns from an old piece of model T frame and I have a piece of thick wall stainless tubing for a spreader bar. Plugging away a little at a time, I redid a few things in the seating area so I built a new seat pan and installed the seat belts I had ordered. Also put some tabs on the spreader bar to mount the front license plate.
Being that this is a father/son build my pops said he wants to take the roadster to next years Grand National Roadster show. I told him this car will be kool but probably not gnrs worthy but we have decided to try and get it done in the next year. Pops is 77 and is dealing with leukemia and I just turned 57 so it’s all about the journey to make it out there. Had a body lifting party last night, thanks Ryan, Randy, Brooks and pops. I’m filling the rest of the holes in the frame welding the framehorns on and a once over before the frame gets sand blasted and off to the painter mid February. Also started doing some body work on on the spring hump got paint on the drive shaft and new bearings on the axles. 44B08FC0-9F6F-4713-B0F6-5C5285E0E36B.jpeg 66CAF522-C169-4D5C-9C2D-9DD4B94EA5FB.jpeg 56A27C97-2C7C-45A6-A42C-F4532FE5B9DF.jpeg 820756E1-4357-4B02-966C-A55CF40ABF7E.jpeg 25FC3D87-7D9A-41F4-8370-B4DC2CFB89C8.jpeg 5C8B4377-C1BF-439A-A6A5-79799ABAE303.jpeg

It was pretty damn straight but had a few issues. The guy I bought it from dug it out of a river bed 45-50 years ago and then it set behind his shop all those years until I bought it 2-1/2 years ago. 4BF66E87-3DFE-4FB0-8FDA-05F7B63B2BA7.jpeg 2DD6F54D-C8B2-41DE-BEE0-003701FC73FF.jpeg

Sure is a lot nicer than one that would have spent that time outside in New England.

  28. Not a bad project ya got there. Needs a set of M&H racemasters and a pair Smithy muffers though. Hehe.

Mufflers! Flatheads don’t need mufflers! hahaha! Between my pops and I we have four flathead powered cars and none of them have mufflers.
