I just want to thank you and the living breathing entity that the HAMB has become for all the good that has happened to me lately. Not only has this generosity touched me, but my family as well. Mrs Zeke is overwelmed by it all and my daughter is well is just crazy but I think most ten year olds are. So far because of the HAMB I have scored my Studebaker because of an ad that 40StudeDude was able to place here. I have a group of weirdos from across the country and other parts of the globe that are salivating at the chance to take a wrench and torch to the poor thing if they could and many will. I've had a complete 351 cleveland, two FMX trannys, and some awesome 2v cleveland heads from down under given to me. Others have offered me parts for next to nothing. Radshit the guy I owe so much to ,who keeps telling me not to worry about the cash aspect but just to make sure I get down there, is doing side jobs and had about 100 t-shirts made just for our lil party. I really have no idea what will happen and how far along the stude will be after HAMB GAS. I am gonna do what I can to get it to the drags. Regardless I will be there. I owe you all that. Thanks I'm humbled by it all.
Zeke, I feel the same way about the HAMB...not only for the ad I placed selling you my old Stude but for very important other reasons I won't list at this time... I think that old wagon is in good hands now... R-
Zeke: I didn't know you were putting a Cleveland in the Stude wagon. I've got some nice hooker headers that I've got very little (really) in. I think they might be for a Cleveland so I'll bring them along. Maybe they'll work. I'll try and check them against some gaskets before then. Dan
I've been around here for a relatively short time, and I don't usually say much, but the vibe on this board is really something special. It seems that for the most part, we are working towards a common goal. Whatever the motivation, visual stimulation, reliving our dads past, reliving our own past, carrying on the torch for future generations, respect for the past, whatever. And it all works out pretty well, with relatively little trouble. It's a really cool place to be. I for one appreciate it greatly.
I know what you mean Zeke. A year and a half ago I was wondering how I was going to make it to the Ego-Rama... then a bunch of people, most of whoom I'd never met, stepped up and sent me some gas money. If it wasn't for those people, I would not have made the trip and had the time of my life. I think the most important thing I've gotten from the HAMB are the friendships. Thanks HAMB'ers!! Sam.
[ QUOTE ] Don't thank me man... It's all the folks in here... Pretty cool. [/ QUOTE ] Oh you are completely correct in say that it is all the folks here. But the thing is it wouldn't have happened with out the HAMB. I wouldn't know these guy and gals that mean so much to me.The folks that have keeping me focused not on on the Stude but on my life as well. As you love to point out Ryan, it's about the cars and the guys behind them. Because of the HAMB there's gonna be a bunch of guys behind this one which is gonna make it that much more special to me.
Man guys, are you all getting misty eyes here?? But seriously, I have gained many friends here, as well as help with parts. Several parts on my A-V8 are from fellow HAMBers...pretty cool.
I have to agree .. ever since I joined ..I've met allot of very cool folks and was a Launching board for Ideas Like Mad Fabricators...So many Ideas run through my head from this board..And every thing I put out has been Influenced by the HAMB...I thank Ryan and The HAMB for changing my life. WORD!! Evel
ive always loved TRADITIONAL rides......customs,rods,refrigerators,whores,choneys,,etc.. but HONESTLY,,,i was in heaven the first time i clicked on to the HAMB. it was like i found a place that i felt that i belonged too,but i never knew how to get there... ...id ALSO like to say that the HAMB has been the ULTIMATE resourse to me and that the HAMB has tought me things that otherwise i would think impossible.... ..and also...i'd like to say, that while im somewhat of a hermit,i have met WAY totally KOOL people from the HAMB in person,(not to even mention the AWESOME people i have become INTERNET freinds with) ...kick ass place to be.....
time to dredge up an old post!! ive learned A LOT since coming to the hamb ... my tastes have refined, in styling and parts. the shit talking keeps me laughing during the day. ive met quite a few hambers and had BOOKU fun ... ill continue to support this site until i die of alchohol poisoning, car accident or lung cancer. i feel so rockabilly right now, it hurts!
Aww, a group hug.... FAGS! I second a lot of what plan9 said... I've found that from this place I've learned a ton about "TRAD" elements of style, and proportion, shape, form and function, all that stuff. Gives me a MAJOR appreciation for the stuff we see pictures of on here. Can't begin to quantify the technical knowledge I've picked up... back in Sept. of '01 I was calling the fire department after working on my ill-runing honda... two years later I've managed to repair AND enhance a hosed chevy V8... without singing a hair on my hand! Now if I could only build the stuff I see in my mind.... Gimme another two years!!! Thanks again! -J
Good Stuff Zeke-ster. I agree you 100%. By the way, all that you mentioned you couldn't of have happened to a nicer guy.
and I'd like to thank Spooky for looking like the only cool car guy at Home Depot. It's his fault I'm here. Thanks Guys!
Hey, you guys drove me to chop my Morris Eight, and I'd had NO plans to do that. Oughta be proud of yourselves 'cos it looks far better with 3" out of the lid.
