    Shane,
Gotta say that i never really paid attention to your brand name until i saw some of your stuff on occ shows. And recently on the reruns of biker build off on the discovery channel. You must have some quality stuff. Nice of you to have a contest.

If it's not stepping on anybody's toes, I'll gladly toss in some DVD's to help up the prize, or maybe even offer it as a second place prize.

    Let me what you think.

Not that much interest this time around HAMBERS?

C'mon now......we are involved on many forums and contribute to the hot rod, off road, race car, drag racing, and metal shaping crowds by having these contests. We are finishing up a contest on another forum, so I am sending out some feelers to see where the most bang for our buck will be.

    Speak up, gimme some ideas!

sounds great to me, anything you can give away is better than what I use, and would be willing to add my latest project to the mix somehow, ...............

I've got one in the works that might be a contender for the "poor people" contest and I'm eagerly awaiting the next tech week.

Maybe some type of contest that a non-expert metal master can win. They've already got good tools!

Winner gets to host a metal shaping seminar with his/her new shiny equipment and maybe learn something!

My father was a carpenter and not a gear head... most all of this hobby has been self taught through reading, doing and the school of do-overs. Something I or someone else of my skill level can actually win is my vote;)

Thanks for your support here Shane!

You asked for ideas.............I would suggest a "poor mans tech" contest. Basically, what can you do with little to rudimantary tools or homemade tools, or more simple tools? Those are the individuals that actually need the better tools that you could provide. I dont think a professional machine and hot rod builder shop would benefit or appreicate winning one of your tools , and setting it next to the three other of the same tool, nearly as much as the poor man or hobby-ist home garage builder. And offer something they could actually fit in said smaller garage.....like a bench top english wheel, bead roller, shrinker stretcher on stand, hammer and dolly kit, credit (non transferable) to the shop on a larger purchase, ........better yet, CHOICE of the mentioned so they could get something they actually need. And, to entice the professionals to apply, add in equivalent credit to your shop as a incentive, and they could buy a better english wheel than they might have, and sell off the current one they have to the hobbyist such as myself that will never spend $2K or up on a tool they would only use a few times.

For example, I have a two car garage and pull one of the vehicles out and work on the other in the empty space or out in the driveway. I dont have a work bench nor the space to put one, and thus I work on the floor on on the base of the engine hoist. I take my bead roller and shrinker stretcher to my brothers work (machinist type shop) and he stays late when I have to roll beads in something or need a bench top vice to hold something. If you were to only offer a certain item (say a huge english wheel with stand) I wouldnt even try to participate (not that I have any tech worth submitting that I dont submit for free) as I couldnt even fathom trying to cram more stuff into my garage. But if I have the choice of a say a few items, or store credit, well most anybody out there in the world could either make use of a new bead roller, or choose the Bench Top English wheel, or a new shrinker/stretcher and the pros could always use a new set of hammer and dollies, or buy a better quality tool as sell off their current one.......

Hope this helps, and thank you for the support you give the HAMB and the posts you do on Metal Meet.

Why the lack of interest? Who doesn't like free ****.

Another vote for a shade tree project. I think the average guy could really benefit from something like that.

I'd just like the opportunity to win. I've been eyeing that big shrinker/stretcher you got. Been doing it myself with a tucking fork and a door skin hammer for a long time.

Damn, now I have to think of a winning project. Should we put a dollar limit on it?
