I think we've been thru this before... generally whatever you have an extra of, won't break, but whatever you don't have an extra of, will break. Murphy says so.
hmmm,i finaly figured it out thats way guys trialer there cars if you dont drive em, they cant break! ya thats it i knew there was a good reason .
If you really get tired of breaking down just throw it in the classifieds Ryan but i want first dibs...lol Glad your back on the road.
I am just about to order a new electronic ignition for my 1946 flathead. Saw the Mallory ones are out of stock on Speedway, but Cyclone Kevin talked about "From what I understand, these Mallory units have a controversial history of operation." Hmmm... what to do? Maybe I should start a new thread about this... BTW. Your "new" car looks great, Ryan! Broken down or not...
I am looking for a small old style toolbox that I can add to the trunk floor of the 49'. Its all modern underpinnings however should make it reliable and drive nice - even if the jokers at OSR think its not "ol skool". I did install a points ignition however to get rid of the original motors computer controlled one.
Sometimes you can buy a car cheaper if it's setting broke down on the road. Hey Ryan where do you live? If you see some one following you all the time , it ain't me
Crab points: The furrin repros have pivot holes wrong, bad contacts, and weak springs, but are otherwise OK... Buy points from a real store, like NAPA. Some Ford repro places sell two grades, your choice, functional or CRAP at a savings of $2.00. Tip: Crab wil run fine for getting home on LEFT (driver's side) point only, and the moveable point with spring is same on both sides...so, you can move the best one there and discard the other to get home. Be sure to return little scale on side to same spot after changing points--if you do that and gap properly with non-Argentine points, timing will stay right. Once you learn the two-bolts and slide distrib out routine, it is ridiculously easy to work on. The Ultimate Crab tech article is brewing!! Unionville Haunt has volunteered for the photo side! Await developments!
