Its getting close to the point where we have to start thinking about exhaust. I have read that the headers have to be rear dump. Are the cheap street rod shorties completely out of the question? If shorties can't work, what are the best / cheapest rear dump headers that fit? Where is the best place to get 'em?
I don't know about cheapest but I can tell you that block huggers won't work. And they do have to be rear dump. When I was a kid we put a sbc in an s-10 and tried block huggers. If memory serves, they came down right on top of the crossmember. You can buy headers made for the swap and in my opinion that is the way to go. I remember on my s-10 the stearing actualy ran through the header on the drivers side. I think you can still get them right from Summit. Good luck.
