i didnt find the info in the search but may have missed it. what is used for a clutch set up. mainly does anyone have part numbers for a clutch kit.
In the tech archive, there are two BIG threads about this. I wound up using a 9 5/8 disc w/ 1x14 spline in mine. a 153 tooth flywheel, 10 1/2 PP. The part number for the disc is in the threads, and I can't recall the number right now. Krylon32 will make you a disk. Send him a PM. We have the solutions, and there are a lot of ways to go. I think one of the thread was the ultimate T-5 thread, or something like that.
If the S10 had a 2.8 (or a four) the clutch you need is for an Astro van, 4.3 V6 and T10 trans. Chev only made that combo for a few years early in the life of Astro's, the first two years, I believe. '82-'83? We could only find it in a matched set, no disc offered alone. I think Parts Source had it.
In the threads mentioned there are part numbers as well as original application data so you could roll into any parts store for most(if not all) of what ya need. The little 283 will love the T5. Good luck with it.
Ya gotta check the ID of the bell there. I thing your'e gonna have to make a bushing to close the hole up some to fit the T-5 bearing retainer. I did the same thing on a T-5 I put in my C-30. Used a car fork I think? and the T/o bearing for that arm. Think you could use the cast arm tho.
Cast forks use the same bearings as the stamped ones, as long as the bell/fork came out of a smaller truck ie half or one ton. Flat diaphram covers use the long bearing ,3 finger or crown diaphram ones use the short bearing.
Ft. Wayne Clutch (or any compotent clutch shop) can make you a 14 spline disc in 10.5" to mate up the the V8 camaro pressure plate.
153 flywheels use a 10 1/2" clutch disc. There is no factory application for a 14 spline 10 1/2" disc. There are aftermarket ones available, or you can get one made. Try Krylon32 as suggested. Chevy did use a few different lengths of throwout bearings over the years, but if you get one from a truck of the same vintage as your bellhousing, that should be fine.
i'm using pretty much the same set up, but with a hyd. clutch....using an '85 astro disc. 11" 14 spline.....i have a 1" input shaft...do i need a bushing/bearing for this?
What do you mean by hyd. clutch? a pair of slave cylinders that move the fork, or is it a hyd. throwout bearing? if you have a fork, you need a throwout bearing... Yes, you need a pilot bushing in the end of the crankshaft...
Advance adapters makes a 10.5" clutch with a 14 spline for putting a v8 in a S-10. I got mine through Summit. http://store.summitracing.com/partd...part=ADD-716104&N=700+311328+115&autoview=sku Dave
