Hi, I just bought my first collection of old Car Craft Mags. 1960 to be exact, damn I am hooked on them. The pictures and articles of classics and customs are unbelievable. Only grip is no color photos inside.
Anyway my ? is what year did Car Craft get away from the customs and rods?

    Thanks for your time

Mid sixties roughly. Early ones and through early sixties had lots of rod tech, during the fifties they also began to rum more customs than any other major mag. Then, along with everyone else, they wandered off into superstocks and musclecars and went to hell in a handbasket...

Tbone....In my opinion, 64-66 was when things noticeably began to shift...

Hmm, I just realized that no one in the Mount Pleasant area carries CC anymore! I always liked that mag, very street oriented.

In depth view into custom grills, OH MAN SWEET,
And March 1960 has the Top 10 Customs of 1959
Jim Cirovello's 59 Chevy is bad ass. If thats not enough Q & A with Geore Barris, I wonder how long did he do this for? I also notice alof of the photo credit is him.

I have a question. Any of you remember Jim Cirovello's 59 Chevy from Car Craft (1960 I believe?) Anyone knows if that car still exists at all, or if it's being cloned? Somewhere I heard that it was in the process of being cloned, I can't remember where I read this though...

Thought I'd pass this on as I mentioned this in another thread about Car Craft yesterday:

I started my collection as a kid in grade school with this October, 1953 Issue of HONK ! (As pictured below)

Now here's the fun part...a few months after this Issue was published, they changed the name from "HONK !" to CAR CRAFT !

Good luck with your collection...I still have ALL of mine since 1953.

It's a shame how some mags have changed. I get almost all of them but car craft to me is just a waiste of money now a days. They may have one good read every 3 months. I spend more time looking through the 60's and 70's stuff I have collected and know cover to cover than one I get in the mail two days ago.

We moved a little over a year ago---I threw out about 4 years of CC's--that mag used to be great. No more. Let the subscription lapse. I had gone back to it several times. No more.

Went through my collection and all magazines 1973 and newer left the building.
Started with 4,678 magazines and am now down to 3,423.When I used to say
I had a ton of magazines it wasnt far from the truth.
There isnt a magazine fit to read these days and everything they do was done
    years ago.

T-Bone and Jonnie King, does Car Craft have a red sectioned shoebox, ford, on its cover for any of the '60 issues. if so would you PM the name of owner and locale at that time. should be somewhere around binghamton ny. it is either cc or r&c, too damn old to remember! all my old mags were stolen along w/ lots of vintage tools and parts in dec 1990! it sure screwed over my head! thanx for your help. larry

I just started getting it this month and I'm cancelling my subscription today. I got it 10 years ago and it was a good magazine. Not now!
