Ford Barn member JEWOTE6486 says APART448@gmail.com has the parts I need. Same identical deal. They took someone for $450.00! My loss $50.00. For 5 early Ford pinion lock plates and washers. *** A Ford Barn member reffered me to All Part. > apart448@g #########. 5-28-23 He quoted $50.00 shipped. [ over priced] I was in a hurry so I sent a $50.00 dollar bill to Vivian Ader. [ Most likely he is in jail ] 6-14-23 I sent him an email " I am still waiting ".. His reply " I will send the tracking number soon " Crooks in jail often have money sent to their girl friends address. An old German saying " Ve gets so soon old and so late schmart." *** 6-25-23. Just checked my old messages. No record of a HAMB member refferal. Scammer must have called me to recommend himself. All Part. Sneaky. Girl's name is Vivian Ader, Macomb, MI. But I don't think any of you guys will fall for this scam.

it is a terrible idea to include your phone number or email address in a wanted ad. that lets non hamb members contact you....

Words to live by there. No way to check a profile or see when the individual joined the HAMB or what their previous activity was.

Do you recall the HAMB member who referred you? If so, at a minimum send Moriarity the name

Don't recall ever putting green money in an envelope!

  7. Almost as bad an idea as sending cash in the mail.

I just went through a big hassle. Sent $800 for a Desoto grill. The filthy liar had already sold the parts to somebody else and was still making excuses over two months later. Good thing I paid with Pay~~~Pal. Filed a dispute and got the money back.

I'm surprised All Part didn't say he never received the money. I purchased a 3.78 ring and pinion from an other HAMB member. He said it was good. $150.00 shipped. The pinion was worn. I don't put worn gears in my QC's. He said it didn't make noise in his 40 Ford. He said send it back for a refund. Now he says he never received the gears. YA, right. Chock up another $170.00 lesson.

About 12 years ago I received $1,000.00 cash in the mail for 2 Halibrand magnesium wheels.

@Frames if you’re getting shafted by HAMB members, I’ll reiterate again, send @Moriarity a message and let him see maybe something you didn’t see.
Bitching about “someone on the HAMB” does no one any good to this community, if names are not mentioned. So if it suits you to not go public, all good, but let a moderator know so at a minimum, another HAMBr doesn’t have an issue.

Boy this place has really turned PC compared to the old HAMB.

Back then we would post everything we knew (names, address, phone numbers, email, relatives, etc) and folks who were around that area would pay them a visit. Vigilante justice was the norm if they didn’t correct their mistake and Lord knows that they would be severely chastised with no letting up until they were run off the board and black listed in the hot rod community.

And that was before Ryan got to them….:D

  17. I sold something on eBay years back. The buyer asked if cash was okay... sure. I get the cash and it was around $15 too much, I sent the rest back with the purchase.

When did this happen? You sent an email 2 days ago. The whole gig has a swarm of Ws, Ts, and Fs flipping about. I mail cash all the time but have gotten to know who's getting it.

Dumb Dennis is quick to delete messages. Can't name HAMB members. OK. on another for sale site. 8BA block. Hot tanked, pressure tested and magnafluxed $500.00. Sounds good to me. Sent $675.00. Magnafluxed but did not mention 2 cracks headed for the cylinders. Did not mention 3/4" crack in an exhaust port plugged. Did not mention deep gouge in one cylinder. Ray Beason [ Raybea ] Edwardsville KS. He says " One of the best engine builders in the country said it is a good block for building. I have listed it [ with pictures ] FREE if someone wants it.

And that right there is why if a seller asks you to use PayPal Friends and Family you refuse and walk away.

  21. I get asked this all the time when buying parts. I just send it as Paying for Goods and include the 3% that PayPal charges. Never had a guy complain that I didn't send it Friends and Family, and myself covering the 3% is generally cheap insurance.

Unfortunately this is a common thing across automotive web boards these days...if someone sends you a message referring you to some person or email address off site, 100% of the time it's a scam. If you do get a message like this, check the board member's statistics; they generally have just signed up and won't have any actual posts on the board.

Brand new member ran for sale ad. His very first time advertising. Lincoln engine to Model A trans. There is no such thing. I told him I was looking for an Offy 0603 and he has 2 strikes against him. #1 new member. #2 no picture. 2 minutes later I received 2 pictures. One showing the part number . One of the adapter. I bought it. I am a happy camper! 2023-06-13 18.41.17-1.jpg 0603 F E to early Ford. These media blasted parts including FE Edelbrock 3 carb intake from a different seller from Oregon who answered my want ad.

  25. I suspect that things like that didn't happen. First, it's not cool to accuse/blame another member for something, and this isn't (shouldn't be) the People's Court. Second, I doubt that some posse of "hoodlums" "kicked their teeth in." I vaguely remember threads being closed and/or deleted.

As of right now, if you flake on a deal in the HAMB Classifieds I am going to post your personal contact information for the world to see (as well as ban you)... This thread will contain a list of bad sellers and buyers as well as a way to get ahold of them...

  29. Years ago when things were different. I sold a big brass Schebler carb to a guy in England on the bay. A week after the sale, I got a Fed Ex express envelope full of $20 bills. The guy was really trusting. Yes, I sent him the carb and he was as happy as I was.

I’ve now gotten so confused reading the OPs replies, I know he is a hell of a good builder, but I don’t know what happened regarding the original post?
