S10 5 speed size/fit

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Algoma56, Oct 4, 2011.

  1. Looking at picking up a 2000 S10 5 speed. It was behind a 4.3 ,so has proper bolt pattern. It uses a hydraulic throwout bearing. I'm wondering if anyone has tried this transmission in the 32-34 chassis? Haven't seen it in person, but pictures sent to me make it look kind of tall through the body. Shifter is located 23-24" back from the engine face; does that seem right for good position in 34? Not worried about the strength of it, as I'm a pretty easy driver, just need input on fit.

    Thanks

It sounds like the gutrag(sp?) 5 speed they used them in the 1/2 ton PU's plenty strong.

GETRAG originally a German Company that I think Ford has 50% now or did, a lot of them now are made in a Mexico plant I believe.
