I have searched around the forum a bit but have not been able to find the answer to my questions. First, is there a better year s10 front clip for a 51' shoebox swap? Second, has anyone used the s10 rear end in a shoebox and how easy are they to re-gear? Finally, can you convert the s10 front and rear rotors/drums so I can keep my stock ford wheels and bolt pattern? Thanks in advance.

  2. Mike, you better duck and cover.

To some of the hard core guys around here, the term S10 is as bad as Rat Rod.

I'd search some of the S10 posts and ask questions there before posting on the main board.

    Anyways, heres some links:

Oh yea, welcome to the HAMB and you probably should stop by the introduction page.

Using the S10 clip is a fine idea and gets you way ahead in price of a MII...With that said, the most important thing is track width...Measure the orig. track width on your Ford then start measuring others...The last thing you want is to have your wheels sticking out your fenders when your done.
There is a link to a chart with some track widths in one of those links. Use it as a reference, but still measure because they are not all 100% accurate.
I know a pre-92 s10 matches my 50 Chevy, so I would be suprised if the Ford is the same width. Late 40 to mid 50 F1's take a Camaro clip which is much wider.
    Measure 25 times cut once.

  4. if your wanting the ford pattern why not check out a ranger instead? could even check out toyota they have ford pattern also. the rearends have larger axles than a 9" ford does. make sure you post some pic's of you project.
