I have been running a 36 rear end, spring and and radius rods on my model a. Rear end gone bad. Would like to use an s-10 rear that I have. I have attached radius rod brackets to the s-10 and had to narrow them. I have 40-1/2" spring hanger to spring hanger, which makes my spring too long. My spring is a 37 ( I think). What song will work well for me?
Go to a spring shop and get a new main leaf the proper length made up then restack your spring. You may have to shorten your leaves but it will give you a chance to chamfer them any way. You use a cut off wheel or a stone on your angle grinder to shorten them.
If you really have a 35-40 spring they like the eyelets on the rear around 48" so you can have a new main leaf made narrower the corrisponding amount
The banger 2WD 5 speed was a 4.10 in most of them. They are a little narrower than most people like though.
Most of us idiots use a 4x4 one. Those are 58" wide. Those are: 3.42 axle ratio (opt GU6) 3.73 ratio (opt GT4) 4.11 ratio (opt H04) 3.08 ratio (opt GU4) As far as I know, the 2wd ones had the same ratio spread, too.
