Jalopy Joker does an awesome job of covering NorCal events so I don’t want to dilute or repeat what he’s done. I have backed away from taking pictures of cars at events for the most part. But I decided to try a different approach and take pictures not for coverage but just of things that jumped out at me. HAMB friendly, of course. Here’s something different, I guess he couldn’t decide… The car was nice but I didn’t get a picture of it. Did I mention that I was with my wife and daughter? They have questions, and I lose focus. Lol A couple of S/S or FX style cars…. This one was really nice with a Sox and Martin style paint job but it had wheels that would upset the Mods.
Pure Hot Rod, with a capital H…. Here’s one for Jim Sibley…. I heard the guy say that he was going to try to run it at Eagle Field.
There were a lot of great cars out in what they call “The Drive-in”. I didn’t even get to go over and check out a couple of ’57 Oldsmobiles that I saw in the distance. But I did see this Buick that reminded me of the one my neighbor Lance had when he was 16 and I was 13. We changed a few Dynaflows in his ‘55 Special. You don’t see many with an old “performance vibe”. And a Studebaker shop truck…. Again, I didn’t get around to the other side because my entourage was movin’ on and I had to catch up. The last from outside in The Drive-in. A nice little Model A coupe in white. I shot from this angle because the engine looked a little modern compared to the rest of the car. Nice car though. My IPad is making me load every picture twice before it will upload to the Hamb. I’ll post some from the indoor part of the show tomorrow morning. Maybe Mr. Pod will be more cooperative.
Great pictures, thanks. Not all of us live in California, so this is a great service to us, kind of a modern day version of getting the little books in the 50/60’s must have been.
I was glad to see this coupe back again, it’s one of my favorites…. Nicely done speedster And Blake’s amazing roadster. Another car I look forward to seeing. I just stand there and stare at it. It’s perfect.
Another nice coupe…. And a cute little T bucket…. Did I say cute? The ‘35 convertible in front of it was a beauty as well but it appeared mostly stock, just lowered.
This was a very period looking RPU…. I especially liked the powder blue accents, the black and white diamonds and the bed pipes.
The engine compartment of this mid-fifties F100 stopped me in my tracks. A bright red and polished aluminum BBC in a totally blacked out engine compartment. Well done.
Stepping into the main Show Car area, a little pickup with interesting features. The engine sits somewhat high by today’s standards, also an interesting steering box mount. Note the nerf bar mounts slotted into the frame horns. And scavengers!!! With ripple tubing no less.
We’ve seen this T pickup with the tilted SOHC 427 in coverage of the GNRS but I don’t remember seeing the exhaust manifolds. They appear to be custom made cast iron (?) Incredible.
JJ covered this one pretty well so I’ll throw it in and add the other descriptive placard that they had on display. With an Olds and a Hydro, power steering and power brakes it wasn’t built for high performance or racing but what a great Mulholland Drive or PCH cruiser.
I love indoor car shows, I have since the days of the Oakland roadster show, the Tridents shows and the Winternationals car shows. I don’t know why, but it appeared that they closed the portion of the show that used to be in the smaller exhibit rooms and it didn’t look like they added space anywhere else. I don’t know if it was a drop in the number of participants or what, but that was a significant number of cars missing. I hope it doesn’t indicate a decline in interest. It’s also been easier and easier to find a good parking space each year. Hmm. Here’s the last two…. A Y-block with twin Magnussens And my favorite model….
Thank You to everyone who came out and supported the show!! This was our (Squires CC Napa) first year taking over and rebranding what was the Suede Pavilion with the New Traditional Rod and Custom Showcase and we appreciate all the positive feed back and everyone taking the time to share their experience and pictures We’ll be back next year Thanks Again
