Safe lead removal -- ideas needed

My trunklid has a 1 inch strip all the way across the bottom. What is the safest way to remove it?

Yes, a torch and a rag.

 

Used a propane torch.Worked pretty good,melted it,watched it run off onto the floor.Not enough heat to warp the sheetmetal,but got rid of almost all of it.
