  1. Ah... what are you worried about. Just cover it up with a tattoo of a zipper and no-one will ever know! ;)

I got kicked in the face playing soccer it split my lip right through. Bled like a bastard. I've also got a 10-inch scar on my guts from a couple of operations I had as a teenager and another on my arm from when I broke my arm when I was seven.

    Yeah... scars are cool. :)

Lucky that sucker wasn't a bit lower skratch, could have been real bad!

I've had really bad luck with Dewalt-branded abrasives... none blew up, but I could tell they were headed that way before I took it too far.

What kind you get does make a difference... but you should still keep yourself protected.

If you're still alive by now, you probably have a good tetanus shot in the last 10 years. I usually keep my shot record handy in the kitchen cupboard, for when I need my shots.

We had an 18 year old lady die here a couple years ago. She cut her leg on the dashboard of her car in an accident. The emergency room had a SNAFU and they didn't get her a tetanus.

My doctor says that's one of the worst ways to go. I told him if I get it, to just give me a triple-shot of the good stuff!

    Shesh. Glad you're ok man.

I'm really freaked out about my electric cut off wheel after seeing multiple posts about this. I always run mine with the guard on, gloves, glasses and welding jacket. I need to get a full face mask quick!

Skratch, I don't think it's your fault at all...I have seen those stupid discs explode dozens of times...alot of them with absolutley no reason.-like fresh out of the middle of a box of 20, and as soon as the grinder turns on, bang...

I think they are a poorly thought out peice of equipment. sure, they cut great, but you may very well take your nuts off with one.

since my last grinder snafu (in the EAR.) my grinders get flap discs, wire wheels, and stones (but only the metal backed Norton ones)

I use "ye olde cut off wheel" for anything that needs a good slicing. they're easier to hold on to, less material to fly around in the event of failure, and the damn discs are cheaper!

Dang dude, that IS scary! I think about crap going south all the time and try to be safe when I work in the garage.

Don't worry holmes, you've only accentuated your metro-sexuality.

That is common with CHEAP wheels like Harbor Freight or JC Whitney.
Buy good name brand cutoff wheels.

Hey Skratch, I hope you don't mind me using your photo and reason for injury in my behavioral Safety class I am teaching.

    Not true Holmes!
I have seen Norton, DeWalt, Milwaukee, and Bosch wheels all go.

The 3mGreencorp discs seems to be a bit tougher, but theyre $pendy, and not that much better.

I've been hit in the chest by an exploding grinder disc and that hurt, let alone getting hit in the face. At least you didn't lose your whole lip.
