Hey Guys! I just finished ***embling a Saginaw SM326 that I bought a while back. I just cleaned it out and resealed it, it is in amazing condition. There is a single pole switch on the 2-3 shift lever. I didn’t check to see if it’s normally open or closed, but when I had the shifter cover apart, engaging 2nd gear depresses the switch. Obviously it’s not a reverse light switch. Does anyone know what this switch would be used for? The transmission came from a 1970 C-10 with a 250 according to French Lake Auto Parts, which is where I bought it. Thanks for the help! Andy
From what I gather, it's for emissions, it limited the advance on the distributor, until in 3rd gear. And the arms go up, not down.... ....
I kinda figured it had something to do with emissions. I just bolted the arms back on the same way I received the transmission, but thanks for the heads up.
The arms go down for a column shift. If he uses a floor shifter on it, he'll be using different shift arms that are suited to the shifter.
