As I'm sure you know a Saginaw is not "native" to a '63, it would have had a B-W. I think I know the piece you're referring to. Sorry, I don't have one. I'd start checking transmission shops, especially old shops that have been around since the 70's.

yeah, i know the saginaw didnt come in the car, i put it in there. i'd like to find a muncie for it but until then i'd like my speedo to work, lol. do you know what the part is called soi dont feel like such an idiot asking for a part i dont know the name of?

  4. Speedo cable keeper? clip? or the little doodad that holds it in place on my sag 4 gear?

I might try a search for saginaw+4+speed on google or infoseek and see if I couldn't come up with an exploded view of the tranny. I've had luck with other car related things that way I even found the proper wiring diagram for my '53 stude that way.

But other than that you really don't need to know the exact name of a part to buy one as a rule. You just have to find someone else that does.

do you have the speedo or is it gone,It is in the tailshaft extenison housing on the shifter side. The keeper is nothing but a flat piece of metal about as thick as a washer it is rectangular with a hole in one end.your speedo has a slot in it where the keeper fit s in and then you put the bolt in it,

  6. not to get off topic but depending on production date a 63' impala could of had t-10 or muncie as mid year was transition to the muncie.

Is it the "bullet" you're referring to, or the clip/bolt that retains the bullet? Sometimes, a plastic plug, or even a metalic core plug, is driven in the speedo drive (bullet) hole, if the drive is'nt needed (as in an off the road vehicle). Butch/56sedandelivery.

  8. You should be able to pirate one off any 3-speed box as well. Every one I've seen has been the same for 3 and 4-speeds. They're usually a flat retainer open on one end held down by a short bolt.
