Hot Rods Sam Barris chopped '32 3 window, into a Lions Drag coupe

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by kidcampbell71, Oct 2, 2019.

  1. The irony of that is the East Coast style originated on the West Coast. The East Coast ran with what the West had done and then perfected it.

The car is currently for sale. Jack Slaymaker purchased it in the fall of '17. Unfortunately Jack p***ed away unexpectedly this spring. His p***ing has left a hole in the hotrod community that won't be filled. If anyone is interested in the car, please PM me and I will p*** it along to the estate.

This car is still currently for sale. I talked to the owner this morning. If anyone has interest. Please PM me and I'll get you in touch with the owner.

    THAT...looks good.
Like others, not really a fan of the rear fenders, but overall...I'd take it in a heartbeat.

P.s. - kidcampbell - You...sure it's the same car? In photos above the rear fenders are welded onto the body. The ones in your photos, are not welded on. It looks like the body is a virgin in the fender location.

Here is a close up of the heads on this '32. Not too many of these were made for the 59A. Cool history for sure. Like I stated above. This car is currently for sale.

If only I had a bigger garage......Or fewer cars......And a higher income......It's not even all that far away....It'd be so cool to restore it back to it's original version, as shown in "A Cool Hot Rod".

@Mike VV ... hey Mike. There's two '32 coupes in this thread.

One, the channeled Valley Custom 5 window, with molded, bobbed fenders. The other is "The Cool Hot Rod" 3 window, eventually becoming the Lions survivor, owned by Jack Slaymaker.

The funny thing is, I learn time & time again, any old photo ID, or lost hot rod ID, I'm gonna' hit up Jimmy B.

    RIP Jack Slaymaker.

First off...Condolences to the Slaymaker Family and Friends on the P***ing of Jack...

Just to clear in the grey of two Hotrods the Slaymaker Deuce is the one in the original post by Kid and is currently available...and still looking to be in the OP condition...

Very kind of you to share this with us @stik70...can you share any additional photos.

Again to clarify the Rootbeer Coupe in the Movie is Jack's Hotrod?

I also am asking if Jack did own this since its Heyday in Shiny Brown?

Is there any history on its journey from Shiny Brown to not so Shiny Brown?

The Silver lining is it's a bit of a Time Capsule...

    Good Luck Hambers...;)

Thanks for all of the interest. The Slaymaker coupe available for sale is the 3w as described in POST #1 of this thread and is the rootbeer brown car from the movie. It is currently in identical condition as shown in the pictures of post #1. Jack bought it in '17 I believe. The story he told me was at some point after the movie. A guy bought it, put a roll cage in it and raced it at Lion's in the '60s. The quickchange shucked out and the car sat in a back yard somewhere in Hollywood till it was unearthed.

  14. I just posted a compilation video taken
of several videos I made in November
of 2019 when I visited Dennis Slaymaker
and interviewed him about his brother
Jack Slaymaker’s collection of hot rods
    and customs in Northern Iowa.
