Looks like I'll be in town Dec 10-14 for a convention. Also looks like a 5 day meeting would make me crazy. I wanna skip a day and go see the sights (hot rods & customs). Anyone have any recommendations of shops/HAMBers I could stop in & visit? Thanks, JH
I'm sure me and Crease and HotRodHudson can show you around a little bit...not that there's much to do, but we can find some car-type-fun-somewhere for ya! P.M. me your contact info and we'll get the ball rollin'. Dan
This could be fun. I'd love to see some of Barnett's work in person. Killer stuff. Barnett, I shot you a PM. Thanks, Jim
Im in! There's some cool places and folks in SA, you just gotta know where to look. I'll get with Barnett to see what your schedule is like. Crease Barons So Tex
The only thing to do in San Antonio in December is to roll on up here to Austin. Hit the Continental on a Friday or Saturday night. There's always something happening.
So how far is Austin and the Continental Club? Might do that on the second night. I could rent some wheels to get there. Hmmmmm...... This is sounding like fun. And think, I was really dreading this trip. Not anymore. Jim
First of all Kustom55 - Our love was supposed to be the unspeakable kind. Second, when am I supposed to fly out to the west coast to move your happy ass down here?
Continental is about an hour and 15 minutes from the Alamo, without a ton of traffic. It's not car related, but you should go to the Alamo. If you've lived in TN., or pay much to Tennessee history, you should go check it out. Without the number of brave men from Tennessee, Texas may not have won our Independence. Of the 180 something defenders, over 30 were from TN. They fought, knowing that they would lose their lives, for some of the beliefs that this state and this country were founded on. You'll not get a better glimpse of the Texas Spirit anywhere else. Not to get on my soapbox, but please go and spend a short amount of time there. And remember the men and women that died there when people make Pee Wee Herman jokes. It should be a sacred place. And if I ever meet Ozzie, I'm gonna piss on his leg.
If you hang around past New Years, they drain the river and clean out the corpses! (little critters and trash) Bring plenty of cash if you bring your "Sweetie" down to the river walk! As Buzzard mentioned before visit the "Alamo" then scoot up to Bracken and visit "Aces & 8's" before heading up to Austin! You'll have a Great time! Mark
