San jose speed and chrome + gennie shifter = free s%^t

I am currently working on my 1950 Ford coupe that I picked up about 4 years ago. I purchased it from the original owner that stopped driving in the mid 70's and it has been sitting ever since inside a Inglewood Ca garage. its been patiently waiting for me to get it on the road and I needed something to drive to Santa Maria this year anyway. this one will be a simple and hopefully inexpensive daily driver. it will run a good-used SBC and auto trany given to me by one of my fellow club members, thanks Eddie! I am going to clean up the original black paint and chrome and recover the front seat in dark red vinyl. tires will be a set of Diamondback white wall radials mounted on stock rims. and it will have a California rake-static drop.
to date I have rebuilt the stock brakes and installed a Jamco chevy motor swap kit and Jamco 350 trans cross member.

Although my ride is still on the chassis table I will be runnin a manual trans and I really need it. I'm crossin my fingers.

 

Here is what I would put the shifter in. It is a '41 Chevy 1.5 ton truck. It will be going on a 1 ton GM motor home chassis. it will have some sort of BB GM motor (undecided what kind at the moment). It will be rebuilt as a flatbed truck to be used for hauling projects as well as other duties. Hopefully this qualifies.

 

I think that shifter would be just the ticket to replace the home made one in my 1950 Pontiac 4-door turned coupe. Sure would be a treat to have a store-bought part in the old girl.

Just started this project. I have most of the parts, but no shifter yet.......

I have a 700r in my 52, no shifter yet, a bent piece of tubing so I can get p,r,n,d. I have a RCA mic for a knob I just need a shifter! 71 350
exhaust is run 1.75" straight pipes, fabricated myself. Starting the wiring.I ran 2/0 wire to the trunk mounted battery and lots of grounds to the body and frame.

 

Man, I hope I'm not to late to enter. I need a shifter to make to the Jalopy Showdown this year. My 52 Chevy is my first project. I bought about 2 years ago from a friend for $900. Having bought a house a month after buyin the car meant very little funds for her. I did what I could to make sure she made it to the Grease Ball that year. Since then its been a little here and a little there as funds allow. With the help of good friends and some cold Boh's and PBR's, she's turned out to be a decent driver. I've been collecting parts for the past year for a full driveline swap. 250 L6, 700r4, 4x4 s-10 rear and various other necessities. Exhaust, drive shaft being cut and balanced, and the Gennie shifter funds are the only hold ups now. Rear went in last weekend, motor and trans to go in this weekend. Fingers crossed.

I'm doing another rebuild and small up dates of my highschool hotrod "28A,boptailed roadster", Started building this thing the first time in 1957 and over the years it's been from a pile of parts to a rod and back to a pile of parts a few times with a few defr V8 motors too,but still like my first layout best. After many other rods too keep going back to my first one.
Getting older now so autotranny is going in,I have found a nice th350 very low miles .
Just a side note;The beer keg "used as gas tank" was found in 1956 at a burned down club"The Bird Cage",owned at one time by Al Capon here in Miami. As kids we was thinking ,WOW we found beer for a party,so took it and a few other kegs that feelt full of beer,off to can beach to party[a local hang out for our partys then,but that beer was some kind of bad stuff from having been heated up too much,some got sick from trying that out.

Bought my 63 C-10 in July 08' with plans of it being my daily driver within 3 or 4 months. In the mean time the wife agreed to share her car with me while the truck was in the shop for a short time. I sold my 54 Belair so I could buy the truck cheaper and use the left over cash to have the air ride installed. I knew I wouldn't be able to get the cash together to have the air ride installed in the bel air so I down graded. Biggest mistake of my life. Seriously.. Well my plan went to hell shortly after I bought the truck. The engine went south so I paid to have the 350 sbc rebuilt from top to bottom. I managed to scrape together some more money by selling some old parts I had to get the air ride done since I spent about half of my air ride money on getting the engine rebuilt. My truck went into the shop and wouldn't you know it. The farther we tore into the truck the more work that we found that needed to be done. The rearend was toast had to buy all knew guts for the rearend and pay to have that rebuilt. It was just one thing after another. Here I am 2 yrs later the truck is still not running and I still don't have anything to drive! Things are moving slow but getting there. being disabled living on a fixed income sucks. I am only about one good weekend of work from getting it on the road just need $$$!! Thanks to San Jose Speed and chrome and Gennie for the give away. Goodluck everyone

50 years ago I built a 29 Model A Roadster pick up. It is the first picture
that shows ( Blue one ). This was basically a back yard build with all
homemade suspension parts. It was powered by a 396 Olds engine with a B&M Hydro, merc rear end with 4 bar supension. Hairpins up front on a stock model A axle. This car was sold just after I got married. Fast forward 42
years. My wife asked me to replicate this car for our 50 wedding anniversary. So the last picture is my garage find. A bone stock 28 A Roadster pickup. I have a 401 buick nailhead and turbo 400 trans. It has a
maverick rear end ( No narrowing required) and a dropped axle up front with hairpins. Strictly old school. Our plans are to drive this new roadster to San Francisco on our 50th, just as we did with the old roadster on our honeymoon.

Our story starts in 1967 where we built a 29A Roadster P.U.
See first picture. This car was completely engineered in the back
yard garage and sported 394 Olds Power, B&M Hydro, merc. rear end with 4 bar suspension. The first picture is my wife and I leaving for San Francisco
in the Roadster. This car was sold when the familly expanded.
Fast forward 40 odd years. My wife aked me to replicate our original Roadster P.U. for our 50 Wedding anniversary. So I'm in the process of a new build after I scored a garage find. The second picture. This will have a
Buick 401 nailhead for power along with a Turbo 400 trans. This will be complete next year in time to retrace our original honeymoon trip. This will be an "old skool build" just as the original one
