Haven't seen the posters actual headers. The pictured headers seem to have more of a 90 bend. kind of hard to work around. And often a little smaller than the straight sections of pipe. Any way Dave Lewis seems to have answered the question with the best and easiest method.
Having just opened this thread I was surprised this method wasn't in earlier. The dent is so close to the open flange you could get to it pretty easily with any rounded object.
Drill a hole in the back side and insert a drift punch then tap it out then weld up the hole. I fixed a lot of dirt bike pipes like that.
http://www.carchemistry.com/ These guys sell a good zoomie baffle. What comes in the Sanderson set isn't much (similar design to a glass pack inside). Car Chemistry sells the glass pack baffle type too. Sanderson told me about Car Chemistry at the NSRA Nats in 2012. I use what Car Chemistry calls a zoomie muffler. It lowers the noise level enough. They're removable too.
Top row left to right Pic 1: Sanderson baffle Pic 2: Car Chemistry Muffler installed in a Dan Olson zoomie Pic 3: Sanderson SBC Bottom row left to right Pic 1: BB Chevy Sanderson Pic 2: Car Chemistry Mufflers Pic 3: one Car Chemistry Muffler Both are removable.
Top Row: Pic 1 is the BB Chevy car; pic 2&3 are other Sanderson options. Bottom row is a fabricated set. At the Street Rod Nationals in Louisville I looked at every open wheel - open engine car. 95% of them ran some type of Sanderson header. Dan Olson makes some good ones too. http://www.olsonmotorsports.com/OlsonMotorsports/Headers.html
Not really hard to find the steel bearings. 1 5/8 http://store.harryepstein.com/cp/IndustrialSurplus/CB158.html 1 3/4 http://store.harryepstein.com/cp/IndustrialSurplus/CB134.html About $5 each. Though I find it hard to spend less then $50 anytime I go near that website!
I heard this works on dented motorcycle gas tanks, might be worth a try. If you can cap the ends of tube, fill it with water and freeze it! Just might work! lowbuckhr
