you can purchase a rivet gun off of ebay. along with a rivet set and a bucking bar and do it the way aircraft sheet metal mechanics do it. the rivet set matches the contour of the rivet head. hold the bucking bar against the end of the rivet press the trigger and go. it takes practice so you don't put smiley faces on the aluminum or rivet.
the edging is tubing which has been slit with a die grinder. It's currently on loose and will be epoxied in place during the finishing process. Actually - it goes on pretty tight; has to be sent home with a soft mallet. The epoxy will be insurance in the event vibrations loosen it up.
