I've been to both, and , yeah, I miss Paso as a location, but I'd miss a great show if I didn't go to Santa Maria. Get real.

I have to agree will Alex, sure the the location isn't as nice, but the show was great. The people were cool, you get to see a lot of people that you don't always get to see because the show is not in nor-cal or co-cal, it's pretty much in the middle. The after parties were great and the cars were awesome! There are going to be some really great cars there again this year. Gambino is working on a car right now that he will be premiering there and I'm almost done with a '37 LaSalle coupe that I will be showing for the first time at Santa Maria. I'm sure there will be other cars there that never have been shown before also. You won't want to miss them. To me the Location isn't as important, it's the cars and the people. I don't understand why some people are so negativ about this show, If you want to go to a great car show and hang out with great people you won't want to miss Santa Maria, If you want to spend a week end in a small town and do some shopping in antique shops and sample some wine, then yeah Paso is the place to go. I go for the show and I don't really care where it is.

I understand its not paso... I understand come people dont like fairground shows... I understand some people are not fond of Penny... I also understand it still was a fun show. There still is a lot to do there. Why doesnt someone step up and bring it back to paso then... do the hard work, do the promoting go for it..

We'll be there friday night. Couldn't get the day off so we have to leave after work. It's my understanding that the city council in Paso didn't want the show there anymore right? Anyways its always fun to be around cool cars and cool friends. See ya there!

The wife and I will be there. Not sure if we are/can bring her car as I think 65 Ford Falcon is to new.

This year along with a lot of other people we have had to pick and choose our battles do to finances. Normally we would be going to all kinds of events. This year we are only going to Santa Maria and Ink and Iron.

I truly believe that it is the people and their cars that make a show what it is. Paso was amazing, and it is sad that it will never be there again. But it was the cars and the people that really made paso as fun as it was. These shows that we attend are what we make them. Santa Maria has a lot to offer. Yes it will take a few years to work all the bugs out. So you pretty much have two options. 1: Go and help make it a fun show, that we all love. 2: Stay home, and give up your chance to be on the ground floor of making this one of the greatest shows of the year.

i will, be there! It sure isnt the same ambiance, but its all about the people, friends, and family at the show. Hard to find a place where you can see everyone together enjoying the same thing

I was also very disapointed with Santa Maria last year. What I loved about Paso was that you could just sit on the wall at the Paso Robles Inn and just watch the cars cruising by...nonstop for hours. Then walk the sidestreets and see more badass cars, then drive to the AandW and see more. The conveniance store at the light by the Park was a mini show in itself. Friday was great, just watching the groups of cars scraping into town, then shutting down Spring street for the cars parading. Then Saturday it was sensury overload, just more cool shit in one place than you could imagene. Santa Maria is a lot bigger and more spread out town, so the cars driving around were not as concentrated in one area like Paso was. The fenced off area in Santa Maria where the show was just didn't do it for me at all. I understand that the city of Paso treated Penny poorly, and she'd tried to stay, but it just wasn't economically feasible, forcing the move to Santa Maria. I'd love to see the street where the Santa Maria Inn is, shut down on Friday nite so the cruise could be re-created...and also just open up the show so that the cars could move around a little more freely. I'll gladly pay the entrance fee or make any donation necessary so that the show continues, but man, I'd love it if the show moved back to Paso.

I still say that people cried when we moved from Sherwood Park to down town and I'd even bet peopled cried when we moved from Lake Nacimiento to Hollister then to Sherwood Park! WAAA WAAA! Get Over It!!!
It's the PEOPLE and COOL KUSTOMS why people go every year not some city.

That would be nice but a little harder to do as Broadway (street in front of SM Inn) is actually Business 101. Now Cal-trans and CHP have to get involved. Don't see it happening, but it would be kool. The show is still about the people. If you are flying in from wherever and don't know anybody, yeah, that makes it suck. But for alot of us on the west who have been going to Paso for 15 years, we see friends that we have met over the years... And that makes it worth while.. It ain't Paso, I get it... So what... times are a changing. Most of those complaining won't own a kustom or hotrod 5 years from now anyway...

I totally agree. I do think that they shut down broadway a couple times a year. For the christmas & rodeo parade. You are right that it is not easy, and may never happen for us. But the more support for this show, & the more it becomes a tradition. The more willing the city will become to block broadway and let us cruise on friday night.

Due to my procrastination and stupidity, I didn't pre-reg for the show. I suppose if I line up early enough, I shouldn't have any issues getting in, right... or do they take all the cars that pre-reg'd 1st and then start letting in the slackers?
