satin or glossy black????

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by dsiddons, Aug 7, 2009.

  1. Thats why you go single stage urethane! You can blend it, rub it out, whatever if you do sustain damage. I have sprayed Nason (budget Dupont), PPG and PPG's Urotech, an industrial version. All were easy for a garage painter and hold up really well.

    Shiny is where its at.

Additional thoughts: if you decide glossy, I would definitely suggest the following:

    1. NOT base coat-clear coat. Single stage.
    2. NOT perfect-lacquer-with-60-coats-lovingly-wet-sanded.

IOW, something that looks like an original black paint job that was well cared for and then rubbed out. Slight patina, ever-so-slightly satiny. This is REALLY hard to describe in words but hopefully you understand what I am suggesting.

The end result would look good, be repairable, and also not make the car look bad as minor stone chips and the like appear over time.
