Just noticed in the 2nd set of pics; It looks as though the p***enger door is a stretched 4 dr. door? Seems like a LOT of extra work (including getting the pieced door skin panel straight enough for paint). A 2 dr door couldn't have been that impossible to find(?)
Chop looks good, someone put a bunch of work into getting the roofline and the rear wheel opening to match, Its different and very cool
Nice save. And only 300 bucks. People shouldnt be stupid and crush nice peicies lice that. But again post more pics of the car and progress.
im not quite sure, but was wondering about that myself. i do not believe that it is a stretched 4 dr door, apon further inspection i think the door was just in bad shape to begin with and somehow it ended up like that..but thats just what i think and could be wrong...but i like that alot of things ive noticed and have wonder'd about people are catching as well..
i'll swing by the yard tomorrow and poke around and see if the pieces to that are still around, i want to say there were some doors layin around near the car that matched that cab....
hey off topic but how did you get that you tube link to work like that, i tried the other day to copy and paste the code in but it wouldn't work for me
well, after afew years of sitting on it, i finally decided to get rid of my 52 after i did some work to it, and start in on this beast. ive recently located a donor roof from a good pal of mine that i will be using, kind of a "roof re-skin" so to speak., STILL looking for a set of packard lenses and bezels for a non-**** price, but am figuring out that thats just about impossible. i also snagged a 55 buick century parts car. im going to be cutting the quarters off of that and using them, and will make the packards fit to those. i guess im going to notch the rear and mustang II the front, bags all the way around...blah blah blah. i bought a small sand blaster of my own and have taken the doors, and front fenders down to bare metal and shot etch primer on them. the body will be comming off soon and the ch***is goes to the powder coater. so really, all the ducks are being lined up, and ready-ing to go! when i feel not so lazy, i may post some pictures soon. hope to have the car finished done, in about 2 or 3 years, but im in no rush, this is going to be the 1st top to bottom build ive done, and i want to do it right the 1st time.
Good to see you are going ahead with this great old custom. Another vote for the Packard T-lights; they were the epitome of kool in the late '50's/early 60's. And I believe someone is making repro. today. Would also be great if you can piece together some history on the car.....
keep the lines going as is, what a great look , and a great save ! someone is a real fool somewhere for giving up on that one,
i cant believe someone was going to s**** this beauty. what were they thinking. any way, good save and cant wait to see some in-progress pics
cant wait to see picts of the progress! and look for a parts car for the packards I paid $525 for a complete car and just took the tail lights off it, way better than $2,500 people on the HAMB are asking for them
