Rocket, have you ever found anymore information about the car, who built it, when, and how it ended up there? And do you have any update photos? Nice find. Keep up the progress. Back from the grave!
$300???!!! Thats a deal. Heck, thats a durn good deal. That leaves alot to sink into that. You already have one of the coolest customs without doing anything but loading a trailer.
such a small world.....the car was started by a fellow hamber it turns out, who happens to be the brother of a really good friend of mine in my car club. the car was parked at his parents lot for years and years and i guess his dad got tired of it and sent it away to the yard to be s****ped. well, enter me, took a walk through the yard, found it, and took it home. my buddy took one look at the car and says "hey thats my brothers old car!" too funny. but its good to know i can get a wealth of information as i go about my build! i will post some pictures once i have em uploaded
i certainly hope so! like i said, im not rushing anything, but it will be in the circuit in afew years i hope!
Rocket8, Check this out I could not resist... Its on the art show too. sorry for the **** scanner resolution. I could make changes if you want. let me know
Great Save. I saw a 62 2 door caddy in the local s**** dealers coming over the 610 bridge in Houston. Doubt if its still there as that was last week, it was a sunday so the place was closed.
wow! thats pretty awesome! i like the front grill idea A WHOLE LOT! i dont think im going to run it with any kind of skirts though, im partial to that half tear drop wheel opening, could ya do some kind of rendering with that if you get the time? thats so cool though! im heading over to the car here in a bit to do some work! everyday is one step closer!
Way to GO ! this could be the beginning of a 'save it' patrol. Just keeping it out of the crushing machine makes you the "Man" ! Good Luck with whatever you choose to do. firstnomad
glad to see you saved it, cant wait to see the progress pictures, or be able to see it at the local shows
Yeah that was my old Olds. I started on it when I was 19. Did some bad metal work on it. Learned some things and went back and fixed some of it. I knew how I wanted it to look and was really stoked to work on it. Then my brother broke his neck and was laid up for about a year. So I stopped working on my stuff and chopped his 56 new yorker and did a bunch of other stuff to it too while he was recovering. After that, got married moved to Boise Idaho and had to sell all of my cars to pay for our house and left the Olds there hoping to come back and get it. I was never able to get it out to Idaho so I gave Pops the ok on getting rid of it. I had no idea it was going to the crusher though. Glad to see it getting finished off. I was going to do a fade based off of House of Color's Planet Green (if I remember correctly) with painted steel wheels, wide white cokers, early 50's cadillac rear bumper, 53 Olds grill insert in the front grill insert, 56 4 door hardtop rear window. The funny thing is that now your finishing the Olds and helping my brother finish his 56 New Yorker too. Good stuff. Message me with any questions that I can help with.
I have nightmares bout cool cars getting crushed! youd think that a guy in car crushing business would know and have some kind of p***ion for these and know somene would want it. no matter what! but then again there businessmemn!
Great find and what an awesome save! I always wondered what happened to the many projects that never got finished. Looks like you're off to a much faster start than most of us. Keep the progress pic's coming and don't let this thread die like that car almost did !!
Hey Max, awesome find. That has to be the best deal ever. Can't wait to see it in person when I come down.
This is the way you do a chop to a 50's GM car! Look at the way it makes the body look ***y! That's the way you do it!
We may be coming back actually. I might have a job offer in Livermore. If we do, first thing on my check list is to come check out your progress on the Olds. Second item, get my old 60 Buick 2 door hardtop back. Nick told me he saw it the other day. I wish I never sold that one.
yea, nick mentioned something about you maybe coming back. that would be rad for sure, and yes, you must recover that buick!!
Dang man good save. When i was 16 i was looking for my first car to kustomize i came across a 61 ford falcon not what i really wanted but a start. So i asked the gentlemen at the yard what he wanted for it he said 150 buck i told him to give me a week i had just landed a job so i came back excited as we pulled up they where setting another car on top of it crushed the hell out of it.
