So over the summer i had a job workin at a local autowrecking place. 48 hours a week,***** pay, but whatever, its money. So the bosses kid was telling me bout this lot that his dad keeps the cars he might or might not crush. So i ask him what kinda cars are back there, and he starts naming off 80s cars. I ask him if theres any 50s cars, and he says " i think theres an old buick back there" I got the keys from the boss, and walked back to find this He was gonna crush it. $500 later, its mine 1951 Buick Roadmaster w/title. 320cid inline 8, dynaflow*******. As of right now, its a driver.
Looks like some other cars back there you could flip for cash to put into this one.. $500 is a good deal for something that runs and drives.
that air duct hoses can be redone with a aluminnum flex joint duct (ac/heat from home depot) i did it on my 52 it will work great .. the oil bath filter is ez to switch to a round dry filter element ... the oil fill is a vented one not just a cap! find a 6 v battery for a diesel caterpiller or tractor with high cca and you will never be stranded i put the shifter console lights from a sixties mopars in the portholes of my three holer ... hooked to the park lites prolly harder to find 8 of em now 55 buick headlite rims ....51-2 olds skirts and its fun to pet the dash while starting it with hands off the key to amaze your friends that the car will only start if its being treated right ... paid 400 for mine in 1981...sold it like this 1990
Sweet, it's even a Roadmaster. I'm parting out a '52 right now, and I'm also looking for some stuff. So if you want to do some swapping let me know. I have a good grille if you need one.
I use to work for him. The guy is just plain**** wierd. After i bout the car ( cash in his hand ) and got it runnin, the****le transfer had kinda skipped my mind. Guy threatened to repo MY car, and crush it if i didnt transfer ownership. Fuckin wierd.
That car will weigh at least 5000 so when scrap was $10.oo a hundred it would have aeven deal. you should thank hin for keeping it. We saved a 53 with a straight eight. It was on a roll back headed to the crusher the next day. We have gotten the engine running buy it is a long way from being a driver. You got a good dealOldWolf
You did great by saving it! Build it and drive! Its worth more than 5.3 cents a pound all day. Thats the going rate, here, so we all can save a few more. Its getting cheaper every day.
The little car next to the big Buick in the first picture is a Crosley. Hope it doesn't (or didn't) get crushed.
