Call me crazy but I am in for the challenge of a lifetime. I have been dreaming of building a 32 ford 5 window since I was 16. Now almost 52 I have decided that I have at least one more build in me. Here's what I am starting with. The front of a 32 ford 4 door (found in Ohio) and the right rear qtr from a 5 window (from Louisiana) . It's going to be a long build .... but here goes
Good luck on the build..... If you don't have any gray hair now you will at the end of this build......hahaha
The trip to Ohio was a real treat. Picked up the body late Saturday after a 13 hour drive. My 3 boys traveled with me , stopped at the Auburn Cord and Duesenburg Museum Subday on the way home. Worth every penny!!!
Not crazy at all, I would love to have a cab like that to start with. United pacific has the quarter panels and other sheet metal you will need.
I'll be following along for sure. I think we have about the same amount of work ahead of us with 32 5w's. I've got a really rough one that I'm trying to put roadster quarters on. Good luck and keep us posted.
Did you get the back window section in pic #6? if so, you are fortunate. Time waits for no one, get going
Qtr and Roof came from Alexandria LA. 17 hours one way. Wife ,boys and the dog made the trip. Left Friday after work , arrived in Alexandria late Saturday. 1750.00 later we were on the road...ouch! Rained all, I mean ,ALL the way home . Had a flat on the trailer and lost the spare tire and wheel....Thank goodness a Walmart up the road had one. Here's a stop at a McD's , duringthe rain..
All it takes is time and money, should keep you busy for a while. If everyone that has chopped a 5Window saved the pieces you should be able to weld them into that missing left rear window section. Good luck with the project!
My son and I did the same with a sedan a few years ago. The owner's auction purchase was not too nice when it was delivered, (He paid big money I thought) Doors had horrible gaps, cracking bondo, welds on the inside looked like someone glued a rope to it. We found parts of 7 different cars, and other machinery in it. We had to chop it another 3/4 inch just to level it out.. Good luck with it. http://i1214.photobucket.com/albums/cc489/cavmanone9/1709.jpg
Congrats taking on a huge project .......... .................... what ever you do to that body , you'll be goin' forwards not backwards Good onya mate cheers Steve in Oz
Definitely a project worth doing! It not only takes time and money but patience and perseverance, but in the end you will have accomplished something. Good luck with it!
Well that doesn't look as bad as the 1000 piece solid red puzzle with only 997 pieces in the box. I'm in to see where it goes.
Good for you. May the 'build gods' be with you. Looks like you'd better get busy though, you're already drawing an audience.
Somehow I knew that 3wLarry would chime in on this post... Like others have said, any '32 is worth a bash at resurrection.
