I honestly think that looks like fun! I know getting all the pieces will mean lots of scrounging etc...and a LOT of work to put it together, but when it finally looks like a 32 again it'll be so damn rewarding!
I've been bashing on my 32 5 window the past couple months, and although mine was not as bad, it was in two pieces (the braces from cowl to quarter and shitty welds at the top of the windshield were the only thing holding in together) it still had nothing at all for floors or subrails, and was missing the whole lower few inches of the car all around..

Trust me, it'll try your patience, but it WILL be worth it!!

    Get at it! :):)

    Tony.

ps: that extra cowl would make a great start to a modified! hehehe.......

I just don't get it. What is so special about the '32? What makes everybody go googah when it is a '32? I would do the same work to a '31 as far as that goes. Have at it and enjoy yourself, it is all fun whether a '32 or not.

Don't know 'bout anyone else, but i just liked 32's and always have. But i fully agree with ya, i'd go that far for anything i really liked or wanted and couldn't afford to buy in nice shape. Thats how i've always had to do it, like you said, 32 or not.

  10. That should be a lot of fun. Well when it's not making you krazy!!

  11. Because its the sexiest god damn body style ever......5w that is! When you want one and nothing else and not afraid of getting your hands dirty.....this is what happens :)

No need to worry about any negativity concerning a '32. I've had the fever since I was 10 years old and I'm now 67. A 5w is what I always wanted and in 1973 finally got a chance to buy a good one. Now it's almost 40 years later and I still haven't taken the time to turn it into my dream although I've owned 7 other Henry '32s.
I've drag raced, oval track raced, and built hot rods for others and several for myself in the meantime and all the while been collecting parts so in the waning years of my life I hope it will somehow become a reality. If not, maybe they can bury me in it. Now that would probably make someone become a grave robber, right?:cool::D
I've followed several 5w builds on here and will follow yours also. Who knows, maybe it will light a fire.:)

Wow , looks like you either love a 32 or you don't. Thanks for the support.

Here's a few pic's of the top, going to need to build a support for the back window and patch the torn corner first.

I feel your excitement. I probably would have done exactly as you did.
As others have done before, keep a good centerline reference, then plumb and level.
They say Rome wasn't built in a day, but that old Ford was built in a matter of minutes.
Keep it all in perspective, and good luck.

To add my $0.02. I admire your courage. I definitely don't have the skills to bring something like that BACK FROM THE DEAD! Speaking of, join the official club!

I'm glad the 5W's are making a stand in here finally! You guys keep building, I'll keep giving my wife money and someday when your cars are done, I'll get to the point where I can afford to work on mine!

Terry, You sent the hinges? Crap, I'm going to have to scour the shop. What color package? haha.

I will never complain about my deuce again.

rcnut, if you need anything, this is the place and there's a lot of us rebuilding 5Ws so the reference material is coming in slowly. There's a lot of good builds going on right now. I'm learning a TON!
