Yeah that project was a real *** kicker... 'specially for an old guy like me, but I'm looking forward to getting back to what ever the hell normal is and build some cars!

 

Any updates on this car?

 

Updates? You want updates? Fair enough, heck it's been over a year... but why? I'm glad you asked;

Remember all that truss work to fit a lift in the shop? It got approved and the lift was installed. I took the windshield from the organ donor and had Safe-Lite install it with the stainless trim and new rubber seal; they did a fantastic job! That's progress, right?
But then I was in the right place at the right time and stumbled onto a deal I couldn't refuse for a '32 Ford Roadster. So the herd grew by one. Heck, what would you do? The thrill of getting a car I've always dreamed of having, but never thought I ever would superseded the poor Lark. So on the jack stands it remained... But wait, it gets better:
Thhhennn... after much debate... M'Lady has been trying everything in the toolbox to adapt to the climate, topography, wind, and the general harsh environment of Aridzona to no avail. "Momma's not happy!"
Like any good Hubby, I asked what I could do to get her to be happy again. The reply was; "Get me the #*+* outta here!" As a result, I've left all that work (and the lift) behind. (I can hear y'all groaning...)
Yeah we pulled stakes and moved back to Oregon. (By the way, I don't recommend moving... it ****s!!)
Anyway, we found a place we really like and I'm in the (seemingly never ending) process of un-packing all my ****. However, the new shop isn't set up at all. It has electric (110 only) and a partial concrete floor, but that's it. UGH! I'm too old for this ****! But Mamma's happy, so there's that...
The Lark is still with me and I still intend to get it back up & running sometime in my life, Ha-ha.

@Jacksmith I saw a studebaker and was thought to myself I haven't seen any updates lately.

Im sorry life has taken a wild path but im glad you and the project are still around.

Thanks guys, It's been a tough uphill pull. We're getting settled a little @ a time and I haven't seen M'Lady smile this much in years! So it's all good.

 

I often drive past your (old) place, but didn't realize you had moved!
I wouldn't mind being near the coast, aside from the mold issues mentioned and I don't think I have another move in me. Glad for you both.

 

If I ever have to move it will involve putting a clean pair of socks in one back pocket and clean underwear in the other getting in the '53 pickup and driving away. I've been trying to sort this pile of junk for my entire adult life. There is no way I could choose what to take and what to leave.

There are a lot of NOS Studebaker parts. It's been said that when car supplies backed up at dealers Stude didn't lay off the workers they had them keep making parts. I even bought a new tailgate for the 59 2 door wagon I had.

The last of the Lark's were small block Chevy powered (OK they came from Canada and weren't called Chevy). You can get bolt in brackets to do the swap. The orig were cast iron and the repops are aluminum. I still have a pair for the wagon I foolishly let someone talk me out of.

I always like the 32 President 4 seat coupe, If I remember the door is almost 40" wide.
