This story fills me with happiness and anticipation. I love customs, especially historic/documented ones, and this one is truly great. It was also very pretty in it's original build configuration.

I'm super glad that Barn Hunter got it, someone who clearly appreciates it's history. This very easily could have been lost forever. Well played.

Yes, it was down to me and the other guy. The other guy would have made it another stock '56.

  7. It all goes back to what others were saying on another thread about the talent that is on this site.
When I first saw the pics of its present condition,,,I thought man what a piece of crap.
But then seeing the pics of its former glory,,,,and I think,,,,Wow,,,now that is what I call an all out custom.
And I know that it can and will be returned to it’s former classy looks,,,that is what makes the Hamb great.
Either customs,,,or old derelict hot rods,,,the guys here can do Magic.
I wish that I was able to do one tenth of the talent that is on here.

Barn hunter,,,,and All the guys on the Hamb that keep this stuff alive,,,,,keep on,,,,keeping on !

That’s quite a find! Even better that you’re starting to find some history/documentation. I can’t wait to see some pictures in it’s current state.

Congrats - looking forward to more pics / details when you get it home

  10. Anxiously waiting to see better pictures of the as-found condition. I agree that it was a nice custom build with tasteful modifications not overdone as many were.
It seems the car has found it's natural new owner and care taker.

I don't normally like custom Corvettes.
Modified for drag racing, loose the bumpers to clean it up some is OK , but I kinda dig this one (except the cut line between the door and the rear tire).
Are you going to restore it to the custom era w/o the blower through the hood?

Me, too. But this one is worth saving. My favorite (for over 50 years) was a local one – the Xsonic (sp?) of Ron Aguirre's of Rialto.

  17. Awesome. I remember the car from when I was a kid. Nice score.

  19. Love to rub a little salt into the rear ends of "Corvette people". Maybe when it's done you can join a 'Vette club.:p

Yes, this is the motor from the other thread. It's a 350 block with angle plug heads and a Cragar/371 blower with a Holley 3 bbl. Don't know what's inside.

It was a long 3 weeks waiting for a delivery notice....so after finding the magazine articles, I drove 4 1/2 hours to see what I had bought and to pick up the loose pieces. I was pretty happy seeing it in the warehouse. While I was there I picked up the hood, grille, headlight bezels, Cad tail light parts and a couple boxes of small stuff. About a week later it arrived. 20191104_162504 (2).jpg

I'm sure that motor has all sorts of good shit in it..what you can see on the outside is outstanding. Love that car!! Who in their right mind would make a boring stocker out of this car? Somebody with zero imagination, individuality and appreciation for history. This car was only stock for what 5 years? It's been a custom for 57 years or so...bravo man!!
