Saving my p/u cab.

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by OilDevil13, Apr 15, 2006.

  1. Drug my p/u cab home yesterday... what a nightmare. Where do you start to get it square again? it was hit on the drivers side, so the door piller/brace... chinga is way tweaked. Something I didnt notice when I bought it. At least Im battin 1000%, when we washed all the dirt out of it, the floor bracing just kind of melted... lol. I knew that was a bad idea. Braced it up best I could and set it on the frame to get it out of the way... Where do you start to get it square again??? Help. Right now Im thinking that my best bet might be to look for another cab and try it agin... but I hate to be a puss.

I bought a Sears lower rollaway cheap because it was slightly tweaked, took it home and used a bottle jack to square it up, took about ten minutes.
if you can access a porta power try to push the cab back square. Use the porta power to push in the opposite direction it is out of square you push a little then check your results, If you go too far then you need to flip the porta power back and go the other way. Does this make any sense?
Try it, you have nothing to lose. Keep us posted. Good Luck!

If it is a 48-51 Ford F-1, you can have my parts truck left overs for free, but you gotta figure out how to get it on your own. It was hit on the p***enger side front A piller, and is rust free. Oh yeah, you gotta take the back half of the frame too. :)

I had a very rusty '41 ford cab that I had to cut the floors out of, cut the rockers off, take 6" off the bottom of entire back and make new pieces for the lower cowl, both sides, and replace the lower door hindge post on both sides. I used a cheap "come along" diagonally in the door openings to square the cab up so the doors fit good, well at least fit O.K. then i braced the insides with a lot of 1" squre tubing, then tacked the doors in place, closed, till i could get floor in it to hold it all together. Do the doors fit good on yours?
