Anybody know when Weiand started putting Say "Why-And" on their stuff? I've got a Weiand 322 2x4 and 3x2 intake, regular block "WEIAND" letters, and I've seen later Weiand nailhead intakes for the bigger Nailheads that had the same logo and the "Say Why-And" logos. This makes me think the "Say Why-And" came out at least after '56, when they had the 322 intakes designed. I've got a SBC 4x2 WEIAND intake, with 3-bolt carb bases, leading me to believe that's a late-50s, early '60s piece as well. I've also got a SBC single-4 intake that has a fairly modern design... looks more modern than the first Edelbrock C4B intake for sure. So I'm guessing the Say Why-And logo is mid-to-late '60s, or possibly up into the '70s. Anyone have anything more definitive? -Brad
donut29 and I have been going 'round about this for sometime now.............I have reason to believe it was after '56 also. donut29 hasn't slept in months, let's solve this now!
bought a new intake in 1980 at a local speed shop in Tucson that had it. I missed out on the beginning though
I wish they still had it on the manifolds. So many people say "why land" or "we land"! Seems like the ones from the late 60's mostly have it on them. My Torker from the early 80's doesn't have it.
Yeah I remember them Wail-land intakes and the Sid Earskin cams, and who can forget the Crowler cams out of Chula Vista.
Whoops! Yeah my bad! One in the ever expanding collection of parts for cars I don't even own yet. None of my Weiands have it. Guess that would be rare, huh?
I have a 1960 Weiand catalog and the "Say Why-and" logo wasn't on anything in it. Everything had the block letter logo. I'm of the opinion that Weiand adopted the new logo after about '62.
i have no idea so i cant be help but wanted to say how its funny people still mispronounce Weiand even after they put that on their intakes
in '04, their own receptionist corrected me: " sir, it's pronounce WEE AND" me: "no it's not. It tells me how to pronounce it right on the intake"
I had a guy call me and try to sell me an Eldenblocker manifold with a Hollings carb... I think this may be a rare combo.. I should have jumped on it...
i worked a speed shop counter for many, many years and for many, many years i heard guys talk about "el-da-brock" manifolds !
I can't pin point the date, but I know the Old man ( swifty here on the HAMB) spent time with Phil in '66. the 'say WHY AND' was on the intakes then as the one Phil gave him for his poly motor has it on it. As do the transfer decals he draged home too. So if B*** has a catalogue that doesn't have in in 60 and it was there in 66 thats getting closer. I want to know if anyone has any photos of his T that was raced at the lakes?? but maybe thats for another thread. heres a photo of the man himself from '66 not sure what was happening this day.
i know weiand made blower manifolds for short deck desoto hemi's (55 and prior) that have the "say why and" logo on em. so im thinkin early 50's or so. its a cool lookin and very rare intake too.
